Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15, downtown Bellevue will host one of the biggest car, truck, and motorcycle shows in the area, according to organizer Wayne Root. The weekend is a fundraiser for the Bellevue Athletic Boosters, one that will help the organization buy new jerseys, pay for leadership courses, and fund trips to tournaments. But the fundraising is hardly the biggest selling point or focus of the weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be full of family friendly and fun activities.

Friday evening is the kickoff for the weekend fun. At 6 p.m. will be a cornhole tournament, as well as a DJ and dance in the street. Starting at 7 p.m. will be the student showcase of wheels, in which children can bring whatever wheels they have. Be it peddle cars, tricycles, or hamster wheels, they can come show them off as the first event of the weekend of wheels. From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. River Run will be playing in the beer tent, which will also feature the award winning Territorial Brewing. Cornhole, dancing, wheels, and beer is a pretty American way to start a weekend.

Saturday is the big day, with the car, truck, and motorcycle show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for the show starts at 7:30, and registration fees are $10 with dash placards for the first 250 vehicles registered. Judging for the show starts at 10:30 a.m., with an award ceremony at 1:30. There will be 25 classes in the show, and 77 trophies distributed. Awards range from best paint job, to best in class, to best grocery getter, and more.

Later in the day at 2:30 p.m. will be the truck rodeo in the high school parking lot. An expected 50 semi trucks will maneuver through a predetermined course of cones with a trailer provided specifically for the event. Contestants are to make it through the course in four minutes. Every six-second interval under the standard four minutes will earn the drivers a point. Every cone bumped will be a one-point, every cone knocked over will be a two-point deduction. The truck rodeo is the newest event for the weekend, one that Root is sure will be a crowd pleaser.

Sunday will be a simpler day with a three-on-three basketball tournament at the high school. Throughout the weekend vendors and crafters will be set up for food and fun purchases. For more information, readers can visit the Bellevue Athletic Booster Club Facebook page and view the events tab.
