Going into any new situation can be cause for trepidation. Being the newcomer to a team that has a long history working together may even be a little intimidating.
Fortunately for Hillary Pereida, the newest stylist at Grand Central Station hair salon in Charlotte, the other ladies welcomed her with open arms.
“In this industry you have to adapt, and have to play off of the atmospheres,” Pereida said. “They were very welcoming to me, so it wasn’t hard.”
Pereida, who has been doing hair since 2009, joined Grand Central Station in the fall of 2015. She joined a team that has been working together for more than a decade.
“She fits in here great,” said stylist Terri Combs. “We couldn’t have had a better fit.”
Spend any amount of time in the shop and it’s easy to tell the women — Combs, Patti Lundy, Cindy Best and Pereida get along really well and know how to have fun with their clients.
“We have a lot of fun,” said Combs. “It’s a good family atmosphere.”
They’re not family in the traditional sense, but when you work side-by-side with people for long enough and build solid friendships, the sense of being a family follows. It’s the sense of togetherness that led the ladies to join forces at Grand Central Station nearly four years ago.
“I still really enjoy coming to work everyday,” said stylist Patti Lundy.
Located next the Old Depot building, Grand Central Station offers hair cuts for men, women and children, color service, perms and extensions. Hours vary by client need. Walk-ins are always welcome. Stop in an see Combs, Lundy
