Looking for new avenues to bring in and entertain customers, Terry Ranshaw turned to comedy. He contacted The Comedy Zone, an international booking service for comedy clubs, to inquire about returning comedy to the greater-Charlotte area.

“After Connextions Comedy Club closed its doors, there was really no comedy left in the area,” Ranshaw said. “They were looking for a place in the area to land, so it was a great fit.”

Ranshaw, owner of the Stock Yard in Charlotte said there will be performances every Friday and Saturday night beginning Friday, Oct. 24 with comedians Al Park and Jim Holder. The first show opens at 8:30 p.m. with a follow up performance at 10:30.

“The acts we’re bringing in are national touring acts,” Ranshaw said.

Holder is an 18-year comic veteran who started in Houston, Texas. He has been featured on the Bob & Tom Show, heard locally on Q106 FM, and has performed in comedy clubs throughout the United States. Park emerged from the Boston, Mass. comedy scene in 2012 and has been a top performer at comedy festivals on the east coast and in North Carolina the past few years. He now is a nationally touring comedian.

“I’m really excited about this,” Ranshaw said. “I’m confident, if people support this, it’s going to work.”

Tickets will range from $8 to $15 depending on the comedians performing, Ranshaw said. Tickets for the first weekend are $10 and can be purchased as The Stock Yard BBQ and Brew, located at 1820 Lansing Road in Charlotte.

Ranshaw said he’s putting together dinner and show packages that will be available soon. For more information, call The Stock Yard at (517) 997-6093.
