Helen Louise Wood

Helen Louise Wood, the lady whose blue eyes lit up a room, died January 9, 2020, at the age of 86. Helen always had a smile and was very outgoing and friendly with everyone she met. A General Motors worker, she retired after 29 years there and then worked in home healthcare at the Delta Retirement home. Helen loved to travel, with her favorite destination for many years being St. Ignace in Michigan’s UP. Her most recent trip was to Tennessee, which was a great place to visit with her love of country music. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino to play slots, playing bingo, word searches and crocheting. Especially proud of her family, Helen loved going to all of her granddaughter’s sporting events to watch and cheer her on.
Helen was born April 8, 1933, in Carson City, Mich., to Andrew and Mable (Navin) Cunningham.  She was predeceased by her parents; ex-husband, Morris Wood; and by her siblings, Marjorie Seibold, Leonard Cunningham, Russell Dailey, and Bill Dailey; family friends, Gordon and Sandy Fyan.  Helen will be dearly missed by her children, Jackie Meyers and Israel “Pat” Wood, granddaughter, Onika Meyers; and siblings Dorothy Stoddard, Jack (Janet) Dailey, and Bernard (Vicki) Dailey; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are encouraged to support Helen Wood’s family at a memorial visitation. Visitation is Wednesday, January 15, 2020, 2-4 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to Eaton County Health and Rehabilitation Services recreation fund. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Helen on her Tribute Page at www.PrayFuneral.com.  The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
