A simple box of cereal can do more than fill a breakfast bowl – it can bring smiles, ease a family’s grocery budget, and remind neighbors that their community cares.
Thanks to the generosity of two Bellevue residents, that simple joy recently found its way into the hands of many local families.
Michelle Fulcher and Tate McCarn, both employed by Kellogg’s, recognized an opportunity to make a difference in their hometown. Wanting to give back to the community they call home, they helped arrange a generous cereal donation for Bellevue residents.
The donation included two familiar favorites: Kellogg’s Raisin Bran and Scooby-Doo! Cereal.
Raisin Bran has been a breakfast staple since 1926, when Kellogg’s introduced the cereal as one of the first ready-to-eat cereals to combine bran flakes with sweet raisins. At the other end of the cereal aisle is Scooby-Doo! Cereal, inspired by the beloved cartoon character who has been solving mysteries since 1969.
Fulcher personally delivered the donation to The Cupboard Next Door, the outdoor food pantry located at the Bellevue Christian Church. Word quickly spread throughout the community, and before long, a steady stream of residents arrived to receive boxes of cereal for their families.
The smiles on the faces of young and old alike were a reminder that acts of kindness don’t have to be complicated to make a meaningful impact. A simple box of cereal can brighten a child’s morning, help stretch a family’s grocery budget, and remind neighbors that their community cares.
