There’s something special about a classic car in Michigan.

Long before “cruise nights” became popular across the state, Michigan earned its reputation as the birthplace of America’s automotive industry. With companies like Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler shaping both transportation and manufacturing, generations of Michigan families built, restored, and cherished automobiles. As vintage vehicles became collectibles in the 1950s and 1960s, communities across the state began organizing car shows as a way for enthusiasts to share their passion, preserve automotive history, and bring neighbors together. Today, many Michigan towns host at least one annual car show, celebrating not only beautiful vehicles but also the friendships and traditions that surround them.

That tradition was alive and well on Saturday, July 11, as Bellevue Athletic Boosters hosted the 32nd Annual Car Show at Washington Park.

The event drew 145 registered vehicles and was made possible through the generous support of 52 sponsors, along with countless volunteers who helped create another memorable day for the community.  Vehicle owners proudly displayed everything from beautifully restored classics and muscle cars to vintage trucks and motorcycles, giving spectators an opportunity to admire decades of automotive craftsmanship.

Top honors included:

Best of Show Motorcycle: Linn Gribi – 1995 Harley FL Classic

Best of Show Truck: John Kuzma – 1971 Chevrolet C10

Best of Show Car: Jerry Anderson – 1968 Dodge Charger R/T

Best of Show Overall: Alan Vandenberg – 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

The festivities extended beyond the vehicles. Visitors enjoyed food, fellowship, and live music from His Boy Elroy, while the beer tent hosted a competitive cornhole tournament featuring 22 teams.

The cornhole champions were Nate Payne and Greyden Haun, who claimed first place after an afternoon of spirited competition.

For the Bellevue Athletic Boosters, the annual show serves as an important fundraiser that helps support student-athletes and athletic programs throughout the school year.

The Athletic Boosters expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s event possible.

“The Athletic Boosters is very blessed with support from local sponsors and sponsors from the surrounding area, coaches, student athletes, parents, and the community as a whole.”
