Bellevue Community Schools has named Tim Lyman as its new superintendent.
Contract negotiations are underway for Lyman to step in after Eric McCalla left, after serving in the district since 2024.
The school board voted on his appointment at a July 27 meeting.
Lyman was one of three finalists for the position in the district, which has also announced a new elementary school principal for this year, Carrie Nagayda.
Lyman is coming from Waverly schools, where he has been principal since 2011.
In a news release, School Board Vice President Scott Byers wrote, “We are excited to move forward with Tim Lyman as our candidate….Throughout the interview process, Tim demonstrated outstanding leadership, a student-centered focus, and a genuine commitment to building strong relationships.”
In the same news release, a statement from Lyman read, “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to be selected as the Board’s candidate….Bellevue Community Schools is a special place where small-town values, strong relationships, and a commitment to serving every student define who we are.”
Lyman has been an educator for 25 years, beginning as a teacher of elementary-age students and then principal. He has been at Waverly Community Schools since 2011.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
