Harriett M. Tarnowski


Harriett Mae Tarnowski, age 85, of Charlotte, formerly of Henderson, Nev., and Metro-Detroit, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, September 11, 2021. She was born October 6, 1935, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania the daughter of William and Loretta (Barker) Dowling. Harriett was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always concerned about the needs of others and did her best to see that everyone was well cared for. She enjoyed bowling, canning, and working as a server in several high-end restaurants. Her family always loved her spaghetti sauce, chili, stuffed porkchops, and honey baked ham. Harriett was a devoted Christian and enjoyed serving others. She was a member of the Henderson United Methodist Church in Henderson, Nevada and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Harriett is survived by her children, Laura (Robert) Vipond of Charlotte, John (Debra) Tarnowski of Cal., Loretta (Glenn) Bouse of Ypsilanti; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Laura Rademacher of Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Tarnowski; daughter, Mary Young; siblings, Betty Lewis, Loretta (Orin) Rush, William Dowling Jr.; brother-in-law, Melvin Rademacher; and sister-in-law, Marcie Dowling.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors Tim Potter and Mark Booth officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial took place at Parkview Memorial Park in Livonia.
