Rex Royston, Jr.


Rex Royston, Jr., a man that truly loved his farm animals and had a passion for animal auctions, of Vermontville, died September 12, 2021. Rex, 76, of Vermontville was born November 17, 1944 in Charlotte to Rex and Ruth (Lett) Royston, Sr. Rex was a simple conservative man who was happy with whatever he had and was always willing to help others. Rex was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
His employment at the stockyards in Lake Odessa and Battle Creek would often lead to him bringing home a variety of animals. He was a successful farmer for years; it was a big part of who he was and he loved sharing it with his children and grandkids. Rex enjoyed growing African violets, peonies and lilacs.
Rex is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Cindy (Greg) Wight, Michael (Ashley) Royston, Melissa Jelinski, Teresa Vela, Maria Vela and Tina Rings; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Ruth (Lett) Royston, Sr.

Visitation is Sunday, September 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Funeral services are Monday, September 20, 11 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Randy Royston officiating. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
