Local band Full Circle will take to the Courthouse Square stage this coming Thursday evening, August 10, as part of the Summer Concerts on the Square free music series. Created from members of the award-winning bands “Insol” and “Voodoo Chilli,” Full Circle will feature acoustic rock from the 1970s through the 1990s. Full Circle is one of the most local bands the series will feature this year, with members coming from both Charlotte and Holt. The band consists of Ken Merley on drums and vocals, Sean Bodell on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals, and Tom Baker on bass guitar and vocals. Bodell and Baker, both from Charlotte, have known each other since the seventh grade and have been playing music together since then. When they graduated to larger venues, they added drummer Ken Merley from Holt. As the group Full Circle, their focus is on three-part harmonies, fun songs, and making sure the audience is thoroughly entertained. Full Circle has been together nearly five years and plays a variety rock and roll and related music by giants like Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffet, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. “The purpose of the concert series simply is to put on a good show, and not necessarily showcase local acts,” Bryan Myrkle said. He is the organizer of the concert series. “But when good local bands are available, we love to have them. It’s a win-win.” The Summer Concerts on the Square free music series continues each Thursday evening through the end of August. All shows begin at 6:30 p.m. and run approximately two hours. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, picnic baskets and non-alcoholic refreshments. Concerts will be moved to the First Congregational Church (right across the street) in case of rain. Be sure to check out the Charlotte Artisan and Farmer’s Market on the Courthouse Square on Thursdays, too. For more information, contact Bryan Myrkle at (517) 543-8853.
