Donald E. Otto

Donald E. Otto, age 69, of Bellevue died on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, following a long battle with lung cancer.
Don was born on February 8, 1951 in Battle Creek to Bernard and Joyce (Oaster) Otto. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1969. Don served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1971-1977. On December 28, 2001 he married Martha “Marty” Lennon.
Don worked for Grand Trunk railroad for many years, and he retired in 1991. He also served on the Bellevue Fire Department for 16 years and eight of those years as assistant fire chief. Don enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was the assistant coach for the Bellevue High School girls softball team for several years. Don also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved family get-togethers, especially time spent with his nieces and nephews.
Don is survived by his wife Marty of Bellevue; father Bernard Otto of Bellevue; son Dan Otto of Bellevue; two granddaughters; brother Michael (Mary) Otto of Delton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Joyce; and siblings Gary Otto and Steve Otto.
A memorial service took place on March 12, 2020 at the Bellevue United Methodist Church in Bellevue. A private family interment took place at Bellevue Riverside Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bellevue Fire Department or to Eaton Community Palliative Care. James Levi Greenman, age 78, of Olivet passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing with his family by his side. He was born April 2, 1941, in Kalamazoo, the son of Leslie and Dorothy (Roberts) Greenman. Jim graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1959. He then studied agriculture at Michigan State University. On September 7, 1969, Jim married Noreene Stearns in Galesburg, Mich. Jim worked many different jobs throughout his life but his heart was always on the farm. He had a love for horses, and he was especially fond of his draft horses. You could often find him winning, or near the top of, many different plowing competitions. Jim was a social man who thoroughly enjoyed visiting with others. He would often hand out $2 bills or silver dollars to someone just to strike up a conversation. Jim also enjoyed reading books about the Old West. From ranching, the pioneers, to the history of the American frontier, Jim enjoyed them all. He enjoyed watching college basketball but supporting his grandchildren in their school sporting events, and 4-H was of an utmost importance.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Noreene; daughter, Rachael (Tony) Eye of Charlotte; son Chad Greenman of Olivet; grandchildren: Levi Greenman, Morgan Ann Greenman, Madison Eye, Abigail Eye, Ryder Greenman; sister, Jeanette Ridgley of Three Rivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents- in-laws, Frank and Margaret Stearns.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at noon at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Charles “Jim” James Martin, Jr., age 78, of Eaton Rapids passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Jim was born on November 2, 1941 in Okemos, the son of Charles and Zola (Cooley) Martin. He graduated from Okemos High School class of 1958 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Hissem during the Cuban Blockade and played football for the Newport Navy Islanders while stationed in Newport, R.I. Jim retired from General Motors as a die maker after 32 years. His great passion in life was raising and breeding race horses. Jim would regularly have 20 horses, and upwards of 50, that he would race all over Michigan and into Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty King and Sue Newland.
Surviving Jim are his children, Timothy (Toni) Martin, Chuck (Sue) Martin, Beth Martin, Krista (Rock) Gervais; grandchildren, Kyle Martin, Tyler (Gina) Martin, Bronson Martin, Erin Whitely, Veronica (Jason) Schmidt; great-grandson, Liam Martin; brothers, Duff (Nancy) Martin, Ralph (Jan) Martin; sister, Zoanna (Robert) Riley; special friends, Jim and Shirley Rhodes and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with visitation starting at noon. Linda Lou Cook, age 65, passed away on March 7, 2020 of health issues. She was born on April 6, 1954, the daughter of James Paul and Lorene Opal (Snodderly) Kreischer. Linda devoted her life to being a wife and homemaker for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Kenneth A. Cook; great-grandchild, Maia; siblings, Robert, Leonard and Richard Kreischer; and sister-in-law, Mabel Kreischer and niece, Uytovia Kreischer.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her partner of four years, Donald L. Smith; children, Stacy L. (Travis) Bristow, Kenneth A. Cook Jr., and Sarah L. McGillis; grandchildren, David, Travis Jr., Troy, Kayla, Savanah, Desmond, Kelli, Mercedes, Hailey and Jasmine; great-grandchildren, Aria, Malia, Emma, and Maddox; siblings, Milo (Inez) Kreischer, John Kreischer; sisters-in-laws, Evelyn, Margaret and Grace Kreischer; special nephews, James Ross and Doug Kreischer; and many other nieces and nephews. Michael Frederick Munro, age 68, of Lansing, and formerly of Onondaga, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Mike was born on February 29, 1952 in Jackson, the son of Frederick and Elmira (Miller) Munro.
He was a graduate of Leslie High School class of 1970 and went on to receive an electrical trade degree from MSU. Mike worked as a journeyman for Trine Electric in Albion before taking a position with Mobile Pipeline, where he spent two years in Saudi Arabia. He also worked for Conoco Oil, Omimex Energy and retired from ANR Gas Storage in 2012 to assume his new role as full time Papa. Mike was currently the electrical inspector for Leslie, Onondaga, Bunker Hill and Aurelius townships. He was a man that lived his life by the motto, “If you have the ability and means to help someone in need, why wouldn’t you?”
Mike was a trustworthy, generous and caring soul who would drop everything in an instant to help a family member or friend in need. He was the rock of his family and the glue that held them together. Mike was a loving husband, father and Papa whose memory will be cherished by all who loved him.
Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cyndi (Smith) Munro; mother, Elmira Munro; sons, Michael (Sarah) Munro, Tyler Munro; grandchildren, Michael, William and Benjamin Munro; sister, Retha (Bill) House; brothers, Steven (Tina) Munro, Kevin (Dawn) Munro and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and sister, Janice Westbrooks.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Skinner Funeral Homes, Eaton Rapids Chapel. Jeanne Sherman went home on March 9, 2020. Jeanne loved life, and life loved her right back. She was a woman of great kindness, generosity, creativity and enthusiasm. Born February 6, 1927 to Thelma and Bert Van Ark, she grew up in Eaton Rapids. Graduating from Albion College with a degree in social work, she married Eber Sherman in 1949. After working for Michigan Children’s Aid Society, and while raising six children, she returned to school in 1977, receiving a second degree in education from Michigan State University. She then taught and volunteered in Eaton Rapids school system for many years.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Eber; daughter, Mindy; grandson, Matthew Sherman; and son-in-law, Peter Nestor. Surviving are daughters, Karen Nestor, Jan (Rick) Hettich, Mary Beth (Jeff) Morgan; sons, John (Lynn), Mark (Trish); 12 beloved grandchildren, Sean, Elizabeth, Daniel, David, Maggie, Brendan, Jane, Molly, Clara, Kyle, Zachary, Sofia; and five great-grandchildren, Emmett, Mary, Iris, Sage and Anna. She also leaves sisters, Ginnie Scott and Judy (Bill) Babbitt; plus, many treasured nieces and nephews.
Her greatest loves were family, good friends, all children, gardening and birding. In lieu of flowers, send gifts to any cause that offers nourishment and loving care to needy souls such as Heart and Hands, in Eaton Rapids, and Manna Food Project, in Harbor Springs.

Connie Cullen-Guzy, age 76, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2020, in her hometown of Charlotte. She is survived by her loving husband, Stan; daughter, Autumn; son Brad and his wife, Renee: son Marty and his wife, Leigh; and three grandchildren, Cullen, Asher and Trenton.
Connie was genuinely caring, compassionate and selfless, which led her to a long and successful career in nursing where she was able to fulfill her passion for helping others. As a mother of three, she was a beautiful, fun-loving, supportive parent who taught her children how to live a life full of love and laughter. One of her greatest joys was being grandmother to three grandsons who will always cherish her playful and whimsical spirit.
Connie and her husband Stan shared a very special and genuine love. They lived their life together traveling, exploring nature, gardening and enjoying every minute they spent in each other’s company.
Connie will be forever remembered for her sense of humor, love of life and beautiful smile.

Louise Natalie Mann, age 103, of Jackson, formerly of Olivet, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2020, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. She was born June 11, 1916, in Glen Arbor, Mich., the daughter of John and Alvina (Billiau) Hunsberger. Louise was the consummate lady. She was a caring and thoughtful person who was always looking out for the needs of others. She kept a beautiful home that functioned as a well-oiled machine. She enjoyed cooking and preparing delectable meals for anyone who visited. Louise enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She made thousands of mittens and hats that she lovingly donated to different churches and hospitals throughout her life. Louise was a member of the Olivet Rebekah Lodge #96 since 1958.
Louise is survived by her children: Natalie Benson of Leslie, Richard (Katherine) Mann of Leslie; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman V. Mann; children: Ella Mann, Martha Mann, Daniel Mann, Martin Mann, Nita Smith; siblings: Orval Hunsberger, Elsie Lauer, Leo Hunsberger, Johnny Hunsberger, Barbara Hunsberger and Virginia Baxter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Mitterling officiating. The family was scheduled to receive friends on Friday, March 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Olivet Cemetery.

Albert William Kienutske Jr., age 75, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Born in Lansing, on May 21, 1944, he was a lifelong resident of Nashville. He was the beloved husband of Gayla Kienutske for 42 years and loving father of five children — Tim (Becky) Kienutske, Brian (Wendie) Kienutske, Jowana (Dale) Begerow, Larry Kienutske and Robin(Jim) Fletcher. He is survived by 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; siblings Lonny (Gloria) Kienutske, LaVern (Cherry) Decker, Lorraine Carter(Harold), Rose (Floyd) Cook and Ruth Decker; mother-in-law Audrey Steward; sister- in-law, Nina Glasscock; brother-in-law Lester (Linda) Steward; step sisters, aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, cousins, longtime friends Melvin Kellogg and Lonnie Ackley, and many family members in the Owosso area, as well as his beloved dogs.
He was preceded in death by father Albert Kienutske Sr.; mother Dorothy Baker-Kienutske-Decker; son Larry Kienutske; step-parents Hubert (Phoebe) Decker and Leona Decker; father-in-law Clare Steward; grandson Joshua Fletcher; nieces Samantha Cornwell and Lona Cannon.
He was known as ‘Al’ or ‘Billy’ to friends and family, also as ‘K-9’ to those he worked with at GM Oldsmobile in Lansing for more than 42years, where he retired in 2005. He was a huge die-cast car and motorcycle enthusiast, collecting many both big and small over the years as well as a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump. Al was a big man with an even bigger heart, who was loved and adored by many with an endless love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a proud father and splendid husband whose absence is deeply felt by his family.
In honor of his wishes, donations were made to Gift of Life. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at noon at the Sunfield United Brethren Church, 8436 W. Grand Ledge Hwy. in Sunfield, with a luncheon immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barry County Animal Shelter.
