— Stephan Wilcox, owner and pharmacist at Wilcox Pharmacy in Dimondale, has been serving the Dimondale and surrounding community for the past 18 years. But the essential services offered by the neighborhood pharmacy took on new meaning with the COVID-19 pandemic. Wilcox has remained on duty while other businesses had to shut down per the governor’s orders.

The store is closed to walk-in traffic, but Wilcox explained everything that could be purchased inside is available through the drive thru — including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, gifts and various everyday supplies.

“The drive-thru window allows for the interaction to be ‘contact-less,’ and we are keeping the prescription area as clean as possible — wiping down all surface areas frequently,” Wilcox said.

Overall, business has been a little slower than usual, but not by much.

“Sales have dropped a little, but I think that has been from not having the ‘impulse’ buys people would have if they were coming in to shop. But anything we carry in the store is available by drive-up. People know what we have, and they can just call us up to see if we have something in stock.”

Wilcox said he and his staff have been happy to remain open and serve the community. And, thankfully, he has not had to make any staff reductions.

“I was prepared to try and maintain all of my staff no matter what, but we have been able to weather the storm so far. We want to let the Dimondale community know we really appreciate their support and their confidence.”
Wilcox, who lives in Delta Township, graduated from Ferris State University in 1988. He and his wife have two children and a dog. He has worked as a pharmacist for almost 30 years.
