Eaton Pub & Grille in Charlotte is ready to celebrate its 5th anniversary in a big way. The local restaurant and bar will unveil its own microbrewery next week, helping to mark a new chapter in the business’s successful existence.
March 5 officially marks the fifth anniversary for the Pub and manager Terry Davis said he will have at least four of original microbrews — Orbecks Blood Orange Wheat Ale, Black Bear Stout, Papa Bruceski (a German pilsner) and Crazy Woman Creek I.P.A. — available to the public by Friday, March 7. The brewery has been in the works for the past year and a half as Davis said he knows a lot of his customers have been asking for a brew pub in Charlotte.
“In talking with customers, they love the microbrews,” Davis said. “Here we can offer the whole package. We have great food and now our own homemade beer.”
A brewery wasn’t in the business plan when the Pub opened five years ago. Davis said the restaurant has strayed slightly from its original vision, though he couldn’t be more pleased with how things have worked out.
“We’ve changed a couple items on the menu from time-to-time, but the biggest difference is the atmosphere,” Davis said. “We had always desired to be ‘polished’ casual. I think we are much more casual now. But, I love the atmosphere that’s been created here. We have a great clientele, some of our original staff and hopefully the brewery will help us continue to grow.”
Eaton Pub & Grille has also become a destination for themed parties. Its 80s Night on February 22 was one of the biggest events the establishment has had since opening. Davis said the staff is considering more themed parties in the future complete with costume contests and prizes. A Revenge of the Nerds night is already in the works. In addition, the Pub offers regular weekly entertainment in the form of live bands and DJ Trivia.
Stop into the Pub March 10 through March 14 for great anniversary specials: Monday — $5 wet burrito and $5 taco wrap with chips; Tuesday — $5 12-inch, one topping pizza and $5 chicken strips and fries; Wednesday — $5 blackened chicken pasta with garlic toast and $5 ham and cheese panini with chips; Thursday — $5 spaghetti with garlic toast and $5 chef salad; Friday — $5 personal pizza (excludes seafood) and $5 grilled steak medallion meal.
