One thing that makes Indian Creek Acres in Olivet so unique is that you get out of your car and walk into the front door of a modern and stylish office building, which also serves Michigan Dairy. But explore a little further, wander past the shop area and venture into the back of the building, and you will discover that you’re on a sprawling 125-acre farm with hayfields and beef cattle grazing just outside the back door.
“We’re just a local farm that specializes in fresh beef and local crops,” explained Scott Piepkow, one of the owners of Indian Creek, along with Kyle O’Brien. “We strive for the best cared for, pasture-raised beef in the area.”
But they also offer high-quality farm equipment featuring Vermeer agricultural equipment and Deutz-Fahr tractors.
In addition to the farm equipment, they also sell and install tires, featuring Firestone and Mastercraft tires. They can provide new tires for your passenger car, light truck, commercial trucks, camper, lawnmower, tractors, quads, loaders, and more. They also offer on-the -farm-service, going directly to your farm to repair tires, if needed. Piepkow has over 14 years of experience with tires.
It all began in 2017, and the property was just a farm. By 2019 they were introduced to Vermeer agricultural equipment. Vermeer is the company that produced the first-round baler in 1972, Piepkow said. Deutz-Fahr tractors, a German company known for innovation and high-quality equipment, were added to their inventory when they opened full-time in January 2021. They plan on expanding their equipment line even more in the future.
“We started with nothing,” Piepkow said. “No customer base, even. Word of mouth brought us customers.”
“As a small, family-run business, customer service is our number one thing,” Piepkow said. “If I can’t service them, then why am I here?”
Indian Creek recently hosted a Deutz-Fahr and Vermeer Demo Day which allowed farmers to test drive the farm machinery on location. About 65 people showed up and were able to drive tractors and mow and rake hay.
“That’s the beauty of having a dealership on the farm,” Piepkow said. “You can actually run the equipment before you buy it.”
Indian Creek also has pasture-raised beef available for order. 1/4, 1/2, and whole cows are available. The meat is USDA inspected and vacuum sealed. Contact Indian Creek for more info about ordering freezer beef.
