The County Journal celebrates 18 years in business this week! When John Gaedert founded The County Journal in 2006, serving the community and spreading good news was at the heart of what he believed the role of this newspaper should be. With every edition we deliver the news, events and stories that impact your life. Whether it is a library article, legal notice, advertisements for local deals and services, and more – The County Journal is here to help our communities connect and grow.
Throughout the rise of social media, uncertain economic times, and even the navigating the pandemic – The County Journal has been honored to share your stories, family news, school news, local government issues, and business highlights. These are moments that bring a community together, and it happens weekly within the pages of The County Journal.
“Reporting on the positive events taking place in our communities has always been our foundation, and we are confident that there will be plenty of good news to share in the coming year,” said Cindy Gaedert-Gearhart, Publisher and co-owner of The County Journal. “Our pages are filled with local businesses that continue to be the backbone of our communities, and we continue to be ever grateful for their support. It has been a partnership with our advertisers and readers that has carried us this far, and we don’t plan on going anywhere!”
Another core value of the newspaper is promoting “Shop Local” values. By patronizing the advertisers and businesses in small communities like those you find throughout Eaton County, the ripple effects of keeping your dollars local not only benefits the businesses but the community as a whole. If you enjoy reading the contents of the newspaper, thank our advertisers!
With a staff of twelve employees, a team of creative and resourceful contributing writers, and a delivery crew of independently contracted carriers, The County Journal reaches out to cover the majority of Eaton County on a weekly basis. “I’d like to say a big thank you to my wonderful staff, writers and carriers! This would not be possible without each of you. It surely is a team effort,” Gaedert-Gearhart stated.
Members of the community are encouraged to participate by submitting their news, ideas and human-interest stories anytime! From school sports highlights to service club activities, community-based events, and programs – your contributions help keep your local newspaper truly local and relevant.
