David Jackson


David Oliver Jackson, an incredible bowler, he bowled a number of 300 games with 27 strikes in a row one year, passed away in Lansing, MI on July 7, 2022, leaving behind a family he dearly loved and whose melody of life will be greatly missed. He was born in Newport, Arkansas on August 12, 1948, to Leo and Jewel Imogene (Williams) Jackson. David proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. With a great sense of adventure, David enjoyed playing with his cousins throughout his youth. As a problem solver he took the time to listen to situations quickly arriving at a creative resolution. A lover of the outdoor as a teenager, you could find David in his garden free of all weeds, or fishing around Michigan with Looking Glass River his favorite fishing hole. Playing his guitar, David had immense talent. He referred to himself as the next Chet Atkins.
David is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Wells; son, David Leo Jackson; grandchildren, Madison Elise Jones, Jonathan Patrick Jones, David Leo Jackson, Jr, and Lacey Jackson; siblings, Brenda Whitenight-Edwards of Lansing, MI; Patricia TenEyck of Harker Heights, Texas; Eddie Jackson, of Lansing, Mich.; Connie (Greg) Slye of Tucson, Ariz.; Teresa (Kevin) Root of Charlotte; and Kathy (Parker) Graham of Adams Run, South Carolina. He also has many nieces, nephews, cousins and his roommate Maxi Cockatiel. David was predeceased by his parents, Jewel (Jerry) Smith and Leo (Gayle) Jackson.
