Dennis Powell Waugh
Dennis Powell Waugh, age 74, of Vermontville, Michigan, a hardworking and kindhearted man, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by those he loved. Dennis was born on July 24, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan, to Robert and Teresa (Miller) Waugh.
Dennis truly embraced life and found joy in the simple, meaningful moments. In 1984, he married Peggy Ann Lampman, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. He had a passion for woodworking, fishing, and hunting. He always enjoyed a cold beer while watching the NASCAR races in his garage.
A devoted sports fan, Dennis cheered faithfully for the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers, and enjoyed watching a good Michigan State Spartans game. He loved to eat and whether it was a good meal or not, he always complimented the chef stating, “good meal, dear.”
He was known for his skill at cribbage and his uncanny luck with scratch-off lottery tickets. However, nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his grandchildren. Whether giving rides on the tractor or golf cart, Dennis treasured every opportunity to create special memories with them.
Dennis worked in commercial construction and took great pride in his craftsmanship. His work can be seen in places such as the Breslin Center, Okemos High School, and Lugnuts Stadium. He often enjoyed pointing out the concrete he poured and the bricks he laid as he traveled through the area.
An avid fan of country music and classic western movies, Dennis appreciated the simple pleasures in life. Above all, he cherished his family and was always there—whether sharing a laugh, lending a hand, or offering support whenever it was needed.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Peggy; his children, Sara (Mike) Borowicz, Aron Waugh, Denise (Bryan) Epling and Dustin Waugh; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Greg (Pam) Waugh and Bobby (Sharon) Waugh; and his mother-in-law, Aletha Lampman. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Roger and Kevin Waugh; and father-in-law, Darwin Lampman.
