Donald Moore

Donald Moore of Charlotte, Michigan, died under the care of his family, with the help of hospice on July 13, 2022 at the age of 78 years old. The family is deeply saddened with the loss of this wonderful man. Don was born on January 8, 1944 to Henry and Mary (Early) Moore. He attended Charlotte High School and Lansing Community College and lived in Charlotte most of his life, as well as Beaverton and Clare. He also felt at home in Ludington, Michigan, where he was a charter boat fishing captain for 25 years. Don first worked at Yates Hardware then was a mechanical design engineer for his lifetime career, but his passion was fishing and hunting. Don’s best hunt was in 2016 when he successfully bagged a Michigan elk. In addition to fishing and hunting, Don was a skilled furniture builder. He was a member of local gun clubs who benefited from his woodworking skills. He was a teacher to his kids, grandkids, and many youth in Charlotte with the Charlotte White Feathers and continued to teach youth in Clare where he retired. His keen sense of humor was constant and enjoyed by family, friends, and even his hospice team right up to his last days.
Don is survived by the love of his life, Shirley (Densmore) Moore; his son Brian (Heather) Moore; and daughters Teresa (Moore) Colbry and Valerie (Moore) Korroch. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The twinkle in his bright blue eyes radiated joy and love when they were around him; it was sincere and felt by them all. He was the youngest of 14 children in his family; his remaining siblings are Mary Ellen (Moore) White, Dorothy (Moore) Powers, Sarah (Moore) Zimmer, Floyd (Diane) Moore, and Sue (Jerry) Hansen; his sister-in-law Marcia (Terry) Simpson; and brother-in-law Michael Densmore. He has numerous nieces and nephews, along with grands and greats.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at the family residence at a time to be determined. Friends are encouraged to support Don’s family by sharing memories on his Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com. Contributions in memory of Don can be made to Promedica Heartland Hospice of Mason. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
