Irene Jewett


Irene Jewett, of Duck Lake, Springport, Mich., our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2021, after a brave fight with lung cancer.
Irene was born August 6, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Davis) Hill. She resided in Charlotte for 68 years after moving here at age 15. She proudly and loyally served her community as City Clerk for 31 years, until retiring. After retirement she joined her beloved husband traveling and causing fish to tremble in fear in numerous lakes, oceans, and states around the country.
She was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church. Her generosity and caring spirit showed in her love for many family members and friends. She held a special place in her heart for her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with whom she practiced her favorite hobby of gift giving. Many family members, friends, and those in the community sought her wise advice and counsel.
Surviving are her children, Greg (Corinne) Cooper, Shelley (Denny) Hagman, Rob (Karry) Jewett, Kelly (Mark) Wojtysiak, Andrea Jewett; grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Buckner, Brad Hagman, Cody (Brittany) Cooper, Kyli (Josh) Logsdon, Elizabeth Wojtysiak, Jordan Jewett; great-grandchildren, Dylan Buckner, Braylan Buckner, Cason Cooper and Kinzley Logsdon; brother, Mark (Robin) Lapham; and brother-in-law, Dan (Lisa) Driessen.
Irene was preceded in death by her loyal and loving husband of 40 years, Bob Jewett; her parents; sisters, Joan Frankowski and Helen Driessen.
In keeping with Irene’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Those desiring may make contributions in Irene’s memory to the Eaton Area Senior Center or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
