Jeffrey L. Carrick

Jeffrey Lynn Carrick, 59, a man who enjoyed the outdoors and his classic cars, died Saturday, December 11, 2021. Jeff was born January 8, 1962, in Lansing, the son of Elwin Ray and Janet Elaine (Drake) Carrick. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1981 before starting his own trucking business, which he owned and operated until 2014. Jeff married the love of his life, Vickie Lynn Hicks, on June 7, 1980. Other than Vickie, Jeff’s lifelong passion was classic cars. He was known to flip, restore, and collect anything and everything, but especially 1955-57 Chevys and 1966-67 Chevelles. He loved fishing and hunting, although in later years he was known to enjoy watching deer up close to his house, an experience that led him away from actively hunting. Jeff was also known to enjoy a good sunset, especially over water. In fact, his family will always remember when the clouds opened up to reveal a stunning sunset at the very moment of his passing.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vickie Carrick; brother, Mark (Sandy) Carrick; sister, Julie (Gary) Baum; mother-in-law, Louanne Heinze; sisters-in-law, Jane (Phil) Lemon, Tammie (Mike) Selzer, and Christine Hicks; brothers-in-law, James Heinze and Marty Heinze; 17 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his parents, Elwin and Janet Carrick; his father-in-law, John Hicks, Sr.; and brother-in-law, John Hicks, Jr.
