Cirildo Silvas
Cirildo “Sid” Silvas, age 86, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior on Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born July 7, 1936, in New Braunfels, Texas, the son of Pedro and Felicitas (Rodriguez) Silvas. On June 21, 1958, he married Dora Inez Cardenas in Eaton Rapids. Family was everything to Sid. He was the happiest when surrounded by those he loved. His grandchildren all held a special place in his heart. His church family at Charlotte Assembly of God was also very important to him. Both he and Dora enjoyed working on hotrods throughout their life. Sid retired after many faithful years of service from Fisher Body in Lansing.
Sid is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dora; children: Adela (Guy) Gutos of Grand Rapids, Armando (Stephanie) Silvas of Lansing, Alex Silvas of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Pete (Maria) Silvas of Potterville; and sister-in-law, Theresa Silvas of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Juan (Mela) Silvas, Frank (Cruz) Silvas, David Silvas, Matt (Linda) Silvas, Bruce (Sherry) Silvas, Jobie (Bill) Moist, Mary (Leonard) Cruz.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Charlotte Assembly of God with Pastor Shane Bryant officiating. Burial took place at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Morris Edgerly
Morris “Buster” Edgerly of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters on September 15, 2022, at the age of 80. Buster was born in Lakeview, Michigan, on April 14, 1942, to Hugh and Gladys (Fairbrother) Edgerly. Despite complications and additional health issues, he battled cancer for the last two years with courage and strength until the end. Buster was a retiree of Fisher Body as well as a farmer. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and taking care of his farm. He also enjoyed serving others by mowing their lawns, plowing driveways, and keeping busy doing small, odd jobs. Buster enjoyed spending time at the Moose Lodge #2565 in Charlotte and had many friends there. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie #3552 and the American Legion in Charlotte. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Buster enjoyed hunting deer, elk, and bear. He loved riding his motorcycle with Karen and traveling to many states and National Parks. He loved animals and was especially fond of horses. Buster loved watching his daughters show their horses with the local 4-H club. Family meant everything to Buster. He lived life to its fullest fulfilling the words, “Life’s short, eat dessert first.”
Buster is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Edgerly; his daughters, Denise (Brian) Quaderer of St Johns, and Dawn (Mike) Coval of Bryon Center. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Mikayla Quaderer, Lauren Quaderer, Breanna Coval, Adam Coval and Cassidy Coval. Buster also has two surviving sisters: Marie Knapp of Reed City and Donna Bailey of Charlotte. He also had many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed visiting with.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating.

Mary Harvey
Mary June Harvey, age 99, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was born October 9, 1922, in Marlow, Oklahoma the daughter of Junia and Laura Dell (Philbrook) Stevenson. Mary graduated from Enid High School in Enid, Oklahoma in 1940. Soon after graduating she enrolled at the Enid Business College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Max Harvey. They were married on January 5, 1942. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Blanche Moyer Circle, and the Charlotte Country Club. While in the Eastern Star, Mary held every office including Worthy Matron. Bowling and golfing were two hobbies she greatly enjoyed.
Mary is survived by her children: Michael (Linda) Harvey of Wacousta, Cindy (Tim) Francis of Charlotte, Susan (Dennis) Barnett of Charlotte, Richard (Nancy) Harvey of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max in 2003; three sisters; one brother; and granddaughter, Lindsay Nakfoor.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jody Betten officiating. Burial immediately following at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Steven Cochran
Steven John Cochran ended his journey on September 16, 2022, in the comfort of his home and loved ones both human and animal. He was born in Allegan, Michigan on July 4, 1968, to Doris Ann Smith and James Lee Cochran. His life was not an easy one, but he made the best of it with his wicked sense of humor. Steve’s favorite pastime was hunting. To him, opening day was better than Christmas. Steve had the biggest heart. To him, no one was a stranger just a friend he had not met yet. He was always willing to befriend stray animals and people. He had many adventures in Allegan with his sister from another mister, Sue Revor and his brother from another mother, Todd Beardsley and his family, Jodie, Logan and Austin. On October 10, 2015, he married Sherrie Armstrong and joined a ready-made family with two sons, Ian and Kyle Wilson in Charlotte. He became a father to them and loved them like his own children. A few years later, he was blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law, Alanna Peterson and two beautiful grandchildren. Layela and Lorelei. Both girls had “Papa Steve” wrapped around their fingers and they were the light of his life.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother and father, his best dogs, Savage, Buzz and Coda. Surviving is his wife, Sherrie; sons, Ian and Kyle (Alanna) and granddaughters, Layela and Lorelei; his second mother, Hope Cochran; sister, Bonnie Kronemyer (Doug); brother, Mike Cochran (Rhonda) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his very special friends, Susan Revor, Todd Beardsley (Jodie, Logan and Austin), Bob Converse (Michaelle), Rex and Deb Todd, and his family at Rose Pest Solutions.
A Celebration of Life and a luncheon will be held on October 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary #3552 at 116 Lansing Street, Charlotte, MI. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter in Steve’s name.
Mark S. Johnson
Mark Steven Johnson, 65, of Charlotte MI passed away September 7, 2022. Mark was born January 23, 1957, in Lansing Michigan.
Survived by, parents Marilyn (Duane) Phillips, Lyle (Jacqueline) Johnson, daughter Megan M. Puma, and grandson Gavin Puma, sister Beth (David) Ziegler. Memorial will be held in honor of Mark on September 27th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home DeWitt Michigan.

John McLane
John Mark McLane, age 63, of Charlotte, passed away at his home. He was born July 28, 1959, in Charlotte the son of Carroll and Elberta (Luce) McLane. John graduated from Charlotte High School with the Class of 1977. John was an outdoorsman in the truest sense of the word. He loved hunting, fishing, and off-roading. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was an avid gun collector. John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his sister, Mary (Tom) Lobdell of St. Louis, Michigan, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at West Carmel Cemetery with Pastor Todd McLane officiating.

Katheryn Heisler
Katheryn “Kate” Ann Heisler, an independent woman who enjoyed the outdoors, died on Sunday, September 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Kate 70, of Charlotte was born March 21, 1952, in Charlotte, MI, the daughter of Duane and Mary (Drewyor) Shaver. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her family will always cherish the Halloween memories when Kate would dress up as a witch each year and pass out her famous popcorn balls. In her younger years she attended clown school with her sisters and together they would do clown shows around the area. Kate loved spending time outdoors and working in her immaculate flower gardens. She worked for 30 plus years for Owens-Illinois in Charlotte. Kate was known for being a collector of antiques and jewelry. Above all her proudest accomplishment in her life was her ability to provide for herself and everything that she had.
Kate is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Heisler-May; grandchildren, Tyler (Kirsten) Butters, Timmothy May, Tabitha May, Jonnie May, Thomas May, and Bridget May; great-grandchildren, Blake and Daniel May; sisters, Jackie (Jerry) Goddard, and Jody (Rich) Little; and nieces, nephews, close cousins and many aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her parents, and her beloved dog, Chevy.

Forest Lewis
Forest “Bub” Edward Lewis, Jr., 69, died peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at his home in Charlotte, Michigan. Forest “Bub” was born October 9, 1952, in Lansing, the son of Forest, Sr. and Anna (Purcell) Lewis. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1970. Forest worked various jobs over the years. He worked at OI for over 18 years and then retired from Tokai Rika in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Forest was a man of many talents and generous spirit. He was known to be stubborn on the outside but sentimental on the inside. He enjoyed playing games on his computer, fishing and raising chickens. He really loved a good gossip story. His family was very important to him. On June 24, 1972, he married Marsha Burt. Together they raised two sons.
Forest “Bub” is survived by his sons: Jason (Angie) Lewis, John (Liz) Lewis; his grandchildren: Kaylib (Reba) Lewis, Colby Lewis, Blake Lewis, Victoria Music, Talia (Bret) Geodert, Savanah Lewis and Kylie Lewis; his great grandchildren: Zeke Lewis, Emmett Lewis, Huntlie Lewis and Paisley Geodert; his mother, Anna Lewis; his sisters: Dorma Mosher, Pearl Smith, Barbara Powers; many nieces and nephews; his special friend, Brenda Nemetz and his beloved fur companion, Shay. He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Edwin Lewis; his father, Forest Edward Lewis, SR.
A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Eagles, 116 Lansing Street, Charlotte.
Larry Mahan
Larry Roy Mahan, a tractor lover to the core, died Sunday, September 11, 2022, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Larry, 76, of Vermontville was born August 12, 1946, in Battle Creek to George and Verna Mae (Carey) Mahan. Those who knew Larry appreciated what a hard-worker and driven person he was. Working for 33 years at General Motors, he also farmed and raised cattle and pigs for his family. Larry loved his family, raising them with a good sense of humor the lesson to always “get it done.” An avid tractor collector, at one time he had an extensive collection of 33 tractors, with his favorite being his International. With such an extensive collection and love for tractors, it’s no surprise that he belonged to the Charlton Park Tractor Club, and the All Colors Antique Tractor Club. Larry also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and bowling, but one of his favorite things was a hot fudge sundae, with “extra hot fudge not on the bottom but all on the sides and on top, with no cherry.”
Larry is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Kathleen (Michael Slusser) Hawkins, Kimberly (Stephen) Karlzen, and Kelly (Edmond) Racheter; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Verna Mahan; and his grandparents, Max and Doris Carey.
