Douglas Edward Cove
Douglas Edward Cove, age 72, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born February 9, 1952, in Charlotte the son of Robert and Leone (Haddix) Cove. Doug graduated from Charlotte High School in 1970. He went to work for General Motors and retired with over 35 years of service. Doug was a huge MSU and Green Bay Packers fan but he only switched to the Packers after his perpetual disappointment in the Detroit Lions. Doug loved cooking for the family and just spending time together.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Carl Gordon; and brother, David Cove.
He is survived by his children: Jason (Cherie) Cove of Charlotte, Joel Cove of Charlotte, Celena (Kevin) Aspinall of Charlotte, Carli (Russell) Miyasato of Eaton Rapids; four grandchildren; and siblings: John (Shirley) Cove, Linda (Jack) Raymond, Debbe (David) Townsend.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home. The family asks that you wear MSU apparel.

Joan Elaine Hart
Joan Elaine Hart of Onondaga, passed away September 13, 2024, at the age of 97. Joan was born on August 26, 1927, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Louis and Bernice (Bateman) Gretton. She attended Mason High School and graduated in 1946. Joan lived in the farmhouse that her great grandfather built in 1875. She spent lots of time outdoors in her gardens. Joan was very proud of her flowers, she always made sure to let her son, Brad, know not to mow over her flowers. She had vegetable gardens and fruit trees and spent many hours canning fruits and vegetables. Joan was a member of Farm Bureau and the Mason Art Guild. She was a great artist, she especially enjoyed watercolors and oil paintings.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Robert Sanderson) Hart of Mason; sons, Bradley (Diane) Hart of Onondaga and Brian (Pam) Hart of Brutus; grandchildren, Marc (Christina) DuWig, Darcie (Uwe) Saefkow, Katie Sigman, Karrie Hart, Tyler Hart, Collin Hart; great grandchildren, Gwenyth, Lily Ann, Keegan, Juliana, Jordyn, Atley; sisters-in-law, Muriel Allen, Merna Mudgett, Marlene Akers, June Hart, Rosie (Jerry) Miers as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Clair “MC” Hart in 2013; parents, Louis and Bernice; brother, Dale Gretton; sister, Eleanor Hart.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Island City Assisted Living and all their staff for the phenomenal care they gave Joan for the last four years.
A Memorial Service was held at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 2260 E. Leonard Allan Mohre
Leonard Allan Mohre of Eaton Rapids, passed away September 12, 2024, at the age of 88. Leonard was born on February 16, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Donald and Thelma (Pifer) Mohre. He graduated from Dimondale High School in 1954 and went on to work for Lindell Drop Forge in Lansing. Leonard had an eye for antique cars. One of his favorite things to do was drive through car shows. He was quite handy and was proud of the two houses he built. Leonard was a family man. He enjoyed going to Gray Lake fishing with his family and spending time together. One of Leonard’s other hobbies was bowling and sneaking in a cookie from time to time.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judith Mohre of Eaton Rapids; children, Debbie (Mike) Disler and Scott (Wendy) Mohre; grandchildren, Sarah Disler, Anthony Mohre and Jordon Mohre; great granddaughter, Aislyn Disler as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and sisters; grandson, Steven Disler.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of his caregivers, especially Jessica and Nurse Ashley.
As per Leonard’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing – Stoneleigh Residence, 3186 Pine Tree Rd. Pauline Vivian Harns
Pauline Vivian Harns of Eaton Rapids, went home to be with her Lord on September 6, 2024, at the age of 81. Pauline was born in Boyne Falls, Michigan on July 14, 1943, the daughter of the late James and Laura (Kempf) Crego. She loved Jesus very much. Pauline was known for always singing hymns and often surprised her children when she knew all the words. Her family held a special place in her heart and she doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pauline liked to garden with her daughter Colleen and enjoyed spending time out in the yard. Every week she looked forward to lunch with her friend, Nancy Woodman. They would go to Las Flores to eat and visit with Addie. Pauline was a great friend. She was a light in her family’s life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Pauline is survived by her children, Brian (Wendy) Harns of Lansing, Colleen Harns, Deborah Harns, Renee Harns, Otto Harns all of Eaton Rapids, Jason (Nicole Argue) Harns of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Karsten (Emily) Harns, Elizabeth (Matthew) Toy, Ariel (Kevin) Cook, Emily (Ryan Demas) Harns, Julia Harns, Paighton Argue, Parker Argue; great grandchildren, Gilead, Eliana, Caleb, William, Luke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franz Harns in 1996; daughter, Sarah Lea Harns; parents, James and Laura Crego; siblings, Sharon Crego, Theron Crego, Iva Lapp, Perreeza Davis, Reveinna Harns, James Crego.
A memorial service was held at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Donna Ruth Holley
Donna Ruth Holley, age 97, of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Born on August 22, 1927, in Lansing, MI, Donna grew up in the area and graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1946.
Donna dedicated her life to raising her family in Eaton Rapids, MI, where she lovingly cared for her children and home. Over the years, she also worked at the Eaton Rapids High School cafeteria and at Burger King in Eaton Rapids. Donna found joy in baking, knitting, and spending her Fridays at the Red Barn Auction in Rives Junction, a tradition she kept for nearly 40 years. However, her greatest happiness came from the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ottmar Holley; her daughter, Hollie Ann Voelker; her brothers, Jerome, Ray, Spence; and her sister, Marguerite.
She leaves behind her son, Ottmar (Mary) Holley, six grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
