Idella Mae Krawczyk
Idella Mae Krawczyk of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away on July 12, 2022, at the age of 89. Idella was born on May 17, 1933, in Lehr, North Dakota the youngest of 13 children born to John and Emelia (Becker) Miller. She moved to Michigan and married Theodore Krawczyk in 1958. Idella was very proud of the fact that she went back to school and graduated with her GED from Eaton Rapids at the age of 68. She worked as a waitress all her life, working for the Keg Bar and Rivers Edge in Eaton Rapids and at restaurants in Ft. Myers while she and Ted were wintering in Florida. Idella also enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to the casino and was a talented, self-taught pianist.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Krawczyk; son, Charles A. Robart and 12 siblings.
Surviving are her children, Linda (Mike) Cunningham, Larry Krawczyk, Rose Marie Gleason; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet A. Horton
Janet A. Horton, age 94, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born June 9, 1928, in Charlotte, Michigan the daughter of Homer and Cleon (Ritchie) West. Jan was a 1946 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and attended McMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. She had worked at the Eaton Corporation, Jacobsons and Kohl’s Department Store for over 20 years from which she retired. Following her retirement, Jan worked at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home as a receptionist, for the next 28 years retiring again in 2014. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek for 56 years where she served as both a Deacon and Elder and was active in the Miriam Circle. Jan was also active in P.E.O. Chapter CA for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, going for walks, and traveling with her friends; especially the seven years with the Florida Gang.
On October 11, 1947, she married Howard K. Horton, who preceded her in death on June 6, 2000. She was also preceded by a half-brother Clyde “Zeke” West. Jan is survived by her son, Bradford Horton of Battle Creek, and a half-sister Myra Bruce of Charlotte. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Wicks officiating. Interment followed at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to The First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek.

Robert Alexander Herzog
Robert Alexander Herzog, Jr. of Eaton Rapids, MI and formerly of Livonia, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 9, 2022, at the age of 92. Bob was born on February 17, 1930, in Detroit, MI the son of Robert Herzog, Sr. and Esther (Marquardt) Herzog. He was raised in Westland where he graduated from McKenzie High School class of 1948 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State College. Bob was introduced to the auto industry at a young age. While going to work with his uncle Everett at Chrysler he was able to watch the assembly and manufacturing process up close. His love for the auto industry grew as he went to work for Ford Motor Company where he retired as an executive assistant in 1988. Bob enjoyed vacationing and made numerous trips to Hawaii and Florida, he and his wife Susie moved to Lake Whales, FL before returning to Michigan to care for his aging parents. He was a member of Greenfield Village and loved to walk through the museum of antique cars and attend car shows. Bob was a devout Christian and highly involved with his churches where he often sang in the church choir. He was an avid reader of the Detroit News and adored spending time with his Dachshund dogs. Above all Bob was a loving and supporting husband and friend who will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Jean Herzog and sister, Eleanor Bucy.
Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Susan (Meek) Herzog; nieces, Jill (Terry) Prestell, Karyn (Warren) Pennington; great nieces and nephews, Hollie (Brian) Carnevale, Christopher Prestell, Daniel (Amanda) Pecheniuk, and Anderson James “A.J.” Pecheniuk; brothers and sisters in-law, Joseph (Jewel) Meek, Jr., Carolyn Meek, Jerome Meek, Patricia (Brian) Wixson and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel with visitation starting at 3:00 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Crusade, Heartland Hospice, or the Salvation Army in memory of Bob. Sue Bowen
Sue Ellen Bowen, a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and friend, 79, of Charlotte, died peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2022, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Sue was born January 23, 1943, in Lansing, the daughter of Welton and Marguerite (Goyt) Davis. Sue married the love of her life, Larry Bowen on April 6, 1960, and the two started their family. She worked at Arnold’s Pharmacy in Charlotte, but devoted most of her life to the love and care of her children and grandchildren and the many camping trips South, North, and to Cedar Point. The Senior Center in Charlotte and surrounding B!NGO halls sure are going to miss Sue. She would travel across the state and on some occasions into Canada to play B!NGO. Sue was a huge fan of B!NGO, and enjoyed her time playing. She loved eating out at different restaurants. Sue also bowled in a Tuesday night women’s league at Char Lanes, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren by her pool, wintering in Ruskin, Florida, and browsing through flea markets. Throughout her lifetime Sue was very faithful, she devoted her life to the Lord. She was a longtime member of the Charlotte Assembly of God. Above all Sue loved her family and the memories that they created over the years.
Sue is survived by her sons, Kevin (Lori) Bowen of Charlotte and Kraig (Lisa) Bowen of Charlotte; daughter, Kelli Bowen-Kelley of Vermontville; grandchildren, Kalyn Schneckenberger, Ryan Schneckenberger, Shantell Bowen, Dustin Bowen, Shance Bowen, Kaileb Bowen; great-granddaughter, Kinsli Rae Bowen; siblings, Terry (Lloyde) Davis, and Bob (Sherrie) Davis; brothers-in-law, Mel (Judy) Bowen, and Mike (Patty) Bowen; sister-in-law, Bonita (Gary) Bowen; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; special friend, Tina Hart; and many other longtime friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Larry; son-in-law, Kyle Kelley; parents; step-father, Bob “Barney” Barnhart; mother and father-in-law, Richard (Lupe) Bowen and Doris Watkins; brother, Lee Davis; and sister-in-law, Anna Davis.

David Slocum
David Earl Slocum, 72, of Dowling, formerly of Charlotte, Michigan, died February 3, 2022. David was born February 22, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, to Kenneth R. and Esther Mae (Hunt) Slocum.
David is survived by his wife, Caroline Elaine (Felder) Slocum; son, David (Shannon) Slocum II; daughter, Victoria (Dan) Alt; daughter-in-law, Rachel Slocum; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Tyann (Bob) Drake; brother, Jerry Slocum; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Robert Slocum; and his brothers, Robert Burman and Kevin Slocum.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 2 p.m., at Pray Funeral Home Gardens. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home.
