Jeanné V. Kramer (Collingwood)

Jeanné V. (Collingwood) Kramer, 94, of Stevens, Pennsylvania, peacefully drifted into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 11, 2022 – her final hours surrounded by loved ones. Born February 25, 1928 at the Cloister in Ephrata, PA to Earl and Earla Collingwood, she is preceded in death by her late husband of 70 years, Richard H. Kramer, as well as brothers, Clair and William Collingwood; and sister, Maybelle Trostle. Jeanné was a proud graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, Michigan, Class of 1947.
“Jean” was often found throughout life in the kitchen cooking, a lifelong hobby, “gussying up” food. She also enjoyed decades of volunteer work at the Ephrata ReUzit. The family of Jean takes comfort in knowing she was able to live out all her life exactly where she had wanted to, her earthly home on “the hill.”
She faithfully attended Wiest Church where she was a devout follower and loved the Lord. She often referenced being “ready to be called home” over the last decade having accepted her savior. “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am,” John 14:1-3.
Jeanné is survived by a daughter, Susan M. Kramer of Stevens; two sons, Michael R., husband of Tammy Kramer of Fairbanks, AK, and Patrick H., husband of Linda Kramer of Stevens; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being made privately by the family. Anyone who wishes to remember Jean is encouraged to do so through a memorial donation to the Wiest Church, 48 S. King Street, Stevens, PA 17578, in her name. “Jesus told her, I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die,” John 11:25-26.

Leo “Daryl” Baker

Leo “Daryl” Baker, a pillar of our Charlotte community, died June 9, 2022 at the age of 84. Daryl’s accomplishments throughout his life are many and his involvement with organizations have been an example of wonderful leadership. The Charlotte Rotary “HERO AWARD” was given in May, and certainly gives a well-deserved standing ovation to a lifelong servant nature that he has portrayed. Daryl served as Mayor of Charlotte for 14 years; Eaton County Commissioner for 22 years; Charlotte City Council for 30 years; Eaton Federal Banks Board for 30 years; Airport Advisory Board; Charlotte Jaycees; United Way; Charlotte Community Nursery School Board Member; Charlotte High School Building Committee Chairman; Cubmaster, Cub Scout of America leader; St. Mary Church, Pastoral Commission and Finance Committee; St. Mary, Knights of Columbus; Charlotte Community Recreation Committee; coached Baseball and soccer; Michigan Air National Guard /part-time for 4 ½ years with honorable discharge; Charlotte Rotary Club, member for 53 years, and President of the Rotary Club in 83/84; Can-Do Committee for two years; Charlotte Rising; as well as owning and operating an insurance agency that was well known and trusted for 55 plus years. Once retirement age for most arrived, he sold his business to his daughter, Charla and another associate, Brian Lautzenheiser, but he didn’t ever retire. Seemingly, he wouldn’t have any free time to speak of, but he enjoyed using the construction skills he learned from his father and attending trade school to build their home in Charlotte, as well as their cabin in the U.P. Among some of Daryl’s favorite memories include enjoying great times with grandkids at the cabin (often with his straw hat on and his chainsaw within reach), running the trails on their ATVs, and of course on the golf course. Daryl was born on May 27, 1938 in Lake Odessa, Michigan to Leo James and Margaret L. (Powers) Baker. His quiet demeanor and ability to be a great salesman who cared deeply about the community helped his reputation grow. He said, “I enjoy working with the citizen, listening to the needs and concerns and acting on reasonable fulfillment of those needs.” Daryl served as a Cub Scout leader and lived his life following the motto and creed that it taught, to look around the community for projects that improve. He adored and cherished his family making the many memories they will carry in their hearts.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Mary Jean (Martens) Baker; children, Charla (Chris) Parkinson, Michael Baker, Thomas Baker, James (Amy) Baker, Matthew Baker, and Marcus (Cherish Passeno) Baker; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcelyn Kelley, Darlene (Robert) Raymer, Doyle (Jackie) Baker, Rosemary (David) DeWaters; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Sherman Kelley.
Friends are encouraged to support Daryl’s family by attending services or sharing memories on his Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com. Visitation is Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3-5:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 8:30 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary Catholic Church on June 15 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating.
