Dwayne K. Tinkey


Dwayne Keith Tinkey “Tink,” 73 of Charlotte, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at home. Dwayne was born March 10, 1948, in Charlotte, the son of Eugene Henry and Lurabelle Mae (Smith) Tinkey. He graduated from Potterville High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He also later served in the Army National Guard. In the years following his retirement from General Motors, Tink found himself enjoying the outdoors, especially playing golf. He served as greens keeper at Broadway Acres Golf Course in Charlotte, where he found a whole new family around the course and at the Tiki Bar. He set up the Friday golf scrambles and was a fierce cribbage player, card player, and U of M Fan.
Dwayne is survived by his daughter, Laura (Juan) Castillo; son, Jeffery Tinkey; grandchildren, Elijah and Erica Castillo; great-grandchildren, Kyle Moats and Zane Castillo; brothers, Roger Tinkey and Jim (Jan) Tinkey; many nieces and nephews; his life-long friend, Chuck Colley; and his dog, Lizzy. He was predeceased by his parents.

Starr L. Patterson


Starr Lynn Patterson, 57 of Potterville, a warm and kind-hearted individual, died November 6, 2021. She was born in Lansing, MI on August 16, 1964, to Herbert and Gladys (Covell) Sedelmaier. Starr was always willing to help others, and often used her fun sense of humor to help those around her laugh. A sewing machine operator at Peckham Industries, she was very proud of being named Employee of The Month once. Purple was her favorite color, she enjoyed playing games on the computer, and she was frequently heard saying her favorite word, “Whatever.”
Starr is survived by her husband, Robert; three children; her friend and mother-in-law, Linda Winters, Aunt May Covell, Aunt Judy, and Uncle Len Wisniski; and cousins, Tim Bowman, Jerry Bowman, and Penny Bowman; and her beloved pet guinea pig, “Sweetie.” She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Ray Winters.

Barton L. Jones


Barton Lewis Jones, a very hard worker and a proper gentleman, died November 9, 2021, at the age of 90. He was born April 15, 1931, in Sidney, MI to Lewis and Karen (Peterson) Jones. He enlisted in the Air Force and served his country with pride. While on furlough, he met his future wife, Joanne Wood, and they married in 1950. No stranger to hard work, Bart worked 2 jobs most of his adult life, both farming at home and at Oldsmobile on the midnight shift. As a perfectionist, Bart loved to keep his farm equipment very clean and up to date. He also took pride in his Indian motorcycle, and Harley Sportster. Travelling was something he loved too, making trips to many destinations in their motorhome including mushrooming in Northern Michigan.
Barton is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joanne; sons, Steve (Cheryl) Jones, Mike (Ann) Jones, and Larry (Cindy) Jones; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Collene; brother, Wayne; as well as his parents.

James H. Attwell


James ‘Jim’ Henry Attwell, 63 of Bellevue, a hardworking family man, passed from this life on November 3, 2021, with his wife Jeri at his side. Jim was born January 8, 1958, in West Branch, Mich. to Henry and Norene (Huber) Attwell. He attended Charlotte High School and graduated in 1976. Camping with family was one of his greatest pleasures, as well as riding his side by side on the northern trails, and relaxing around a big campfire with a cold beer. Working hard and playing hard, Jim was a flannel shirt and jeans kind of guy, enjoying life in a quiet and laid-back way. He liked playing horseshoes, bowling, and was a huge fan of U of M football and NASCAR (with Dale Earnhardt Jr. as his favorite driver for many years). James worked at Tenneco in Marshall for 33 years, retiring May 12, 2021. In December 1988, he married Jeri Lambka and they enjoyed many adventures together.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jeri; step-children, Dale (Jen) Collins and Heather Collins; grandchildren, Brandon and Jamie; siblings, Bruce (Phyllis) Attwell, Deb (Randy) Kelley, and Jane Love; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Goofy the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Norene Attwell; brother, John; and nephew, Travis.

Marvin R. Munn


Marvin R. Munn, 59, of Battle Creek, passed away November 8, 2021, at Ascension Borgess Hospital. Marvin was born October 14, 1962, in Lakeview, MI to Phillip and Veronica (Johnson) Munn. He received his associate degree from Kellogg Community College and worked as a Facilities Maintenance Technician for CLM Midwest.
Marvin married the former Kathleen Clark, who survives. Marvin is also survived by his children, Zachary (Monica) Hadley, Candice Hadley, Erica Jones, Rebekah Chonko and Caleb Munn; 13 grandchildren, his mother, Vonnie Munn; and two sisters, Dawn Munn, and Marlene Munn. Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Phillip and a brother, David Munn.
Marvin and Kathy loved to attend Renaissance Festivals together and participate in the reenactments. He studied history and enjoyed visiting historical places. Marvin was a fixer of all things and loved to help people. He always had a “bad Dad joke” to share and a useless random bit of trivia to tell. His main passion in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate Marvin’s life will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Calvary Chapel Church, 3142 Capital Ave., Battle Creek. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Alternatives Pregnancy care center of Battle Creek.
