Gerald Fielder


Gerald “Jerry” Douglas Fielder, a caring, kind, generous, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Jerry, 71, of Potterville, was born November 18, 1950, the son of Moten and Ruth (Carpenter) Fielder. Jerry graduated from Potterville high school in 1969; in school he earned the nickname Fearless Fielder. Following graduating from high school Jerry earned an Associated Degree, and later began working for the State of Michigan as a Corrections Officer. In 1985 Jerry married Julie Loveland and together they created their legacy. Jerry was a simple man who was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He enjoyed movies, especially ones with John Wayne and the Blue Brothers. Jerry was a very smart man who enjoyed challenging his mind from doing crossword puzzles, trivia, and anything history related. He also was known for being a collector of many things. His biggest enjoyment in life was his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Jerry is survived by his wife Julie; children, Elizabeth Loveland, Jon Loveland; grandchildren, Ericka (Bryan) Stauffer, Kimmi (Zack) Platschorre, Dalynn (Cody Hamilton) Loveland, Hannah Loveland; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Christian, Maya, Chloie, Kolt, Wesley, and one on the way; sister, Merideth (Bob) Kaiser; sister-in-law, Pam Slaughter; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Aaron, Greg, Mike, and Randy. He was predeceased by his parents; daughters, Carli Fielder, Heather Fielder; siblings, Bonnie Halbeisen, Dan Fielder, Becky Cain; niece, Bethany Halbeisen; nephews, Jon Cain and Kevin Holland; brother-in-law, Mike Domangue.

Patricia Lawless


Patricia Sue (Hunt) Lawless of Eaton Rapids, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness, March 19, 2022, at the age of 93. Pat was born in Flint, MI on March 15, 1929, the daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy (Willemin) Hunt. She graduated from Portland High School and attended Central Michigan University, which is where she met the love of her life, Frederick Lavern Lawless. They spent 72 wonderful and blessed years together. Pat was a member of Robbins United Methodist Church. She loved to sing, play the piano and taught music for several years. Pat was an elementary school teacher in Baldwin, Saginaw, and Eaton Rapids. In 1992, she received the first Judy and Bill Babbitt Annual Eaton Rapids Teachers Award.  She was beautiful, witty and will be remembered for her stunning flower beds, immaculately kept house and her ability to make everyone feel special. Patricia is survived by her husband, Frederick Lawless; children, David (JoAnne) Lawless, Jim (Sarah) Lawless, Susan (Charles) Simmons; her second family, wonderful twin grandsons, Matthew (Tasha) and Michael Lawless; grandchildren Myra Sperley, Rachel Merrill, Kellen Lawless, and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services and Interment will be held at 12 p.m. on April 9, 2022 at the Portland Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Hospice of Lansing for the tender care shown to Pat. Norma Cribley


Norma Jean Cribley of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the age of 90. Norma was born on January 8, 1932, in Springport, MI the second of ten children born to Howard and Twila (Greenslade) Place. She married Charles Cribley on September 4, 1948, and together raised their three children in Eaton Rapids. Norma spent most of her time raising her children and taking care of the home. Once the kids grew up and left the house, she worked for Eaton Rapids Public Schools as a teacher’s aide. Norma enjoyed visiting northern Michigan and walking the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. She also loved her monthly meeting with her lady’s coffee club.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Cribley and siblings, Zelmadene McHaney, Herrold Place, Kevin Place, Merlyn Place and Phillip Place.
Surviving are her children, Robert (June) Cribley, Linda (Steve) Miller, Dana (Jackie) Cribley; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers, Robert, Daryl and Ronnie Place; sister, Sheila Heisler and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Susan Taylor for being such a great friend over the years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel. Burial followed at Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids with a luncheon immediately following at the funeral home. Isaiah Bellville


Isaiah “Izzy” Joshua Bellville (Holevac) of Eaton Rapids, passed away March 15, 2022, at the age of 28. Izzy was born in Wheeling, WV, January 6, 1994, the son of Glenn and Karen Holevac and Heidi Bellville. He was a 2012 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and attended college at Bowling Green and Olivet. Isaiah was a talented writer and poet with an incredible sense of humor. He was a great brother who enjoyed cooking, driving, and absolutely loved spending time with his family and friends. Izzy was there for all of them as a good listener with great advice. He truly brought out the best in every person’s life that he touched.
Isaiah is survived by his parents; siblings, Zoe, Colby, Drew and Duncan Holevac, Sidney and Haley Stenger; grandparents, Carol Holevac, Glenn (Julie) Holevac, Alphonse and Marjorie Nowicki; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Izzy’s wishes were to be cremated. His family has requested that a memorial visitation take place on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids. Wayne Humes


Wayne Humes, age 86, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Wayne was a hardworking man, although he was retired longer than he worked. He worked at GM for 30 years and was retired for 38. He made sure to always take care of his kids and grandkids and he put others first. In retirement, he enjoyed taking his 1934 Model A in parades, camping by friends and family and being with his wife – Verda, who was the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elsie Humes; brothers, Donald Humes, Russell Humes, and Richard Humes; and son-in-law, Tim Snider.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verda Morrissey; son, Wayne (Lisa) Humes II; daughter, Sheila Snider; son, Jeff (Sherry) Humes; grandson, Justin (Meghan) Snider; granddaughter, Stephanie Snider (JT Dochler); granddaughter, Salina Humes; granddaughter, Savannah (Jeremy) Hartman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
