Shane M. Bailey
Shane Mark Bailey, age 55, of Springport, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born May 29, 1966, in Long Beach, California, the son of James and Nancy (Newman) Bailey. Shane graduated from high school in 1986, in Deary, Idaho. He went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy and then the Army National Guard from which he retired after many years of service. Shane was an outdoorsman in the truest sense of the word. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He had a passion for guns and took part in many different shooting sports. Shane also enjoyed traveling and would always seek out the newest craft brewery along the road to visit. He had a bigger than life personality and was always the life of the party. Shane could always take a bad situation and turn it around for good. He was wise beyond his years and provided his family with much needed comfort and stability. Shane’s love for his family took precedence over all else. He had a deep love and devotion for his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Shane is survived by his wife, Cara; children: Amanda (Bradley Jennings) Love of Springport, Corey (Autumn) Freeman of Springport, Curtis (Erinn) Freeman of Eaton Rapids, Christine (John) Hackworth of Onondaga; 16 grandchildren; mother, Nancy (David) Stadtler of Mora, MN; siblings: Andy (Lora) McGibbon, Mark Ruffner, Robert Bailey, Trisa (TJ) Hanson, Tara Aho, Kari (Matt) Kobb; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11 A.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. Bernard T. Steele
Bernard Thomas Steele of Eaton Rapids, passed away November 7, 2021, at the age of 75. Bernard was born in Eaton Rapids, May 26, 1946, the son of Basel and Marvelmae (Parsons). He worked for Union Steel, and most recently, for Atmosphere Annealing as a production driver. Bernard was a member of the coffee club at McDonald’s. He enjoyed listening to country music and Elvis Presley, drag racing, bowling, hunting, fishing, playing euchre and solitaire. He was a true family man loving to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gale Steele; children, Nonda (Isaac) Eagle of Eaton Rapids, Bernard (Bethany) Steele II of Charlotte, Steven (Jamie) Steele of Leslie; grandchildren, Zachary and Ian Eagle, Benjamin and Rachel Steele, Emilee Steele, Kristian and Nikkolas Wilson; brother, Daryl (Loretta) Steele of Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Alexander Steele; sister, Agatha (William) Turner.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday November 12, 2021, at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids, with interment following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity. Walter Peterson
Walter Peterson, age 93, from Eaton Rapids passed away on November 6, 2021. He worked as an electrician for Fisher body. No service is planned at this time. Arrangements have been made by Pray Funeral Home.

Terrill N. Thompson
Terrill Nolan Thompson passed away on October 25, 2021, at the age of 59. He was born on December 26, 1961, in Lansing, MI. He attended Eaton Rapids Public Schools. He enjoyed creating jewelry and operated The Gold Rush in Frandor Mall, Lansing, MI. He was always willing to help others. He was adept at and especially enjoyed repairing cars.
Terrill was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard and Orrilla Alethea (Wilson) Thompson, and one niece. He is survived by his siblings Nadine Thompson of Haslett, MI, Howard Thompson (Trang) of Poinciana, FL, Shasta Burzynski (Lenard) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and Maja Fields (Sam) of Kerrville, TX. He enjoyed his nieces, nephews, their children, and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, November 13, 2021, at the Comfort Inn, 525 N Canal Street, Lansing, MI.

William F. Mowrer Jr.
William F. Mowrer Jr., age 86, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born on December 11, 1934, the son of the late William Mowrer and Lucille (Capozella) Mowrer. He was a graduate of St. Joe’s High School, class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953. He proudly served his country for twenty-years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After returning from the Air Force, he became a police officer in Bellevue, MI. He retired from the city of Bellevue in 1996, after thirteen years of service. He loved to attend car shows and was awarded with many plaques and trophies for his Corvette. He loved to cook for his family and was well known for his famous spaghetti sauce. He was a wonderful family man and loved spoiling his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was united in marriage with Mary E. (Pritchett) Mowrer on March 17, 1962, who survives him. He leaves to cherish his memory two children from his first marriage, Bill (Amy) Mowrer III. and Valeri (Todd) Yates; three children from his second marriage, Kirt Mowrer, Melani Clemons, Tracy (Ronald) Weber; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Mallory, Ashlee, Krystle, Kenny, Sara, Cassie, and Jaelyn; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Ross, Anita (Mike) Cummings, Jimmy (Lucy) Mowrer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Lou Fish and brother, Robert Mowrer.
Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A public memorial gathering will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Bellevue First Baptist Church, 122 S. Main St, Bellevue, MI 49021. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a V.F.W. post of the donor’s choice . Arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Bellevue.
