Larry L. Hynes


Larry Lee Hynes, 85, of Vermontville, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Lansing. Larry was born May 6, 1936 in Clio, Mich., the son of Ward and Charlotte Hynes. He graduated high school before marrying his life-long love, Patsy Jean Lea in 1958. The two started their family and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where Larry worked three years on the oil pipeline. Larry and Patsy then returned to Michigan and Larry drove truck for the Eaton County Road Commission from 1977 until his retirement in 2000. In his later years, Larry developed a passion for raising longhorn cattle, which he did on his farm in Vermontville, the Lazy H Ranch.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patsy Hynes; children, Kelly (Gilbert) Williams, Jesse Hynes, and Karen Primm; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Jeffrey Primm in 2014.
Visitation took place on May 19, 2021 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. A private family funeral service was held, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Nashville.

Jeffery L. Garrison


The world will be a little brighter as Jeff smiles down on us from his new home in Heaven. At age 71, Jeff lost his battle with respiratory illness on Monday, May 10, 2021.
Born to Charles L. Sr. and Joyce E. Garrison on July 6, 1949 in Lansing, Mich. Jeff, the youngest of four sons, was the true definition of a “Free Spirit”. He traveled to Hawaii to visit friends in the late 1970s, fell in love with the islands and really never looked back. Jeff made his home in Honaunau on the big island where he developed lifelong friendships with so many, many people.
Jeff will be so greatly missed by his loving family: brothers, Charles L. Jr. (Sandy) of Charlotte, Thomas R. of Eaton Rapids, James G. (Connie) of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Shannon David, Todd (Christine) Garrison, Tonya Keith, Christopher (Lynn) Garrison, Rachel (Scott) McLane, Andrea Brown, Cana Garrison; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Kevin P. Carpenter


Mr. Kevin Paul Carpenter, age 67, husband of Cindy Lou Carpenter, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home; James Norton officiated. Burial followed in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation was held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Born on June 22, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan, Kevin was the son of the late Edward Wall Carpenter and the late Shirley Jean Feier Carpenter. He married Cindy Lou Kikendall on February 9, 1974 and together they had three children. He worked thirty years for General Motors before retiring in 2007. After retirement, he worked for Lowes in Columbia and Walmart in Columbia and Spring Hill. A genuinely good person, Kevin would help anyone who needed it. He was a handyman and craftsman who often enjoyed wood working and fishing. Recently, he loved looking for deer. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Kevin was an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan and a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Cindy Lou of forty-seven years, he is survived by his daughters, Jamie Carpenter (William Thomas “Tom”) King of Columbia, Tenn., Katrina Kay Carpenter (Michael) Kutzleb of N. C.; daughter in law, Crissie Carpenter of Dickson, Tenn.; sister, Lois Carpenter (Rudi) Seman of Lansing, Mich.; grandchildren, Caleb King, Marissa Kutzleb, Landon Carpenter, Maya Kutzleb, Stella Nelson; cousin, Donna (Ronnie) Williams; sister-in-law, Sue Carpenter; nephews, Mark Manojlovic, Shawn Seman; and nieces, Katie Kikendall and Missy Suntken.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Carpenter on February 19, 2011 and brother, Lee Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Caleb King, Dan Nelson, Courtney Suntken, Joe Davis, Nick Harmon, and Zachary Kiphart. Honorary pallbearers included: Landon Carpenter, Tom King, Ronnie Williams, Jeff Kiphart, and Josh Davis.

Dale G. Hose


Dale George Hose, age 70, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born October 3, 1950, in Hastings, the son of Earl and Mildred (Leedy) Hose. Dale graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1969. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. On January 19, 1973, he married the love of his life, Judy Ann Simmons, in Nashville. Dale worked for many years as a custodian at the State Forensics Lab. Dale adored his family and was especially fond of spending time together with his grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and creating model cars.
Dale is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy; sons: Dale A. Hose of Ypsilanti, Josh (Shawn) Hose of Charlotte, Andrew Hose of Decatur, Ind.; grandchildren, Sydney, Joshua, Brayden, Savannah, Aleksander, Sebstain, Korbin, Maddie; and his brother, Dwaine Hose of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with John Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sheri E. Moore


Sheri Elaine Moore, of Lansing, a great cook that rarely needed a recipe, died May 17, 2021. Born Sheri Elaine Vivada on April 27, 1945 in Lansing, Mich. to Edward and Betty (Northrup) Vivada, Sheri grew up and lived her entire life in the Lansing area. She married Burle Moore and together they have four children, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A proud mother and grandma, Sheri was always very good with kids and was the “neighborhood mom” with the house where all the kids would gather. It may have had something to do with her cooking abilities too, since she was always making delicious treats like her famous fudge. With a giving heart, Sheri was always helping others and would go out of her way to make people feel like family. She also enjoyed the outdoors, spending much time in her flower gardens, and the smell of lilacs in the spring.
Sheri is survived by her husband of 59 years, Burle; children, Brandy (Zac) Medler, Robin (Mike) Angell, Brock (Erica) Moore, and Teresa (Buddy) Beck, 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda “Midge” Criss. She was predeceased by her parents.
