Roger McCartney
Roger Allen McCartney, 69 of Charlotte, Mich., a guy who was humble and didn’t want to talk about himself but loved to share his opinions, died April 13, 2021. One of five boys born to George and Betty (Pruden) McCartney, Roger was born February 24, 1952 in Charlotte, Michigan, and learned from a young age that with a family full of boys he needed to make his voice heard and always found a way to do so. Roger never liked to ask for help, he always wanted to do it himself and he liked to be busy. He was a vocal grandparent in the grandstands at his grandkids’ sporting events, perhaps even a little infamous with the referees and coaches. Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and was a fan of Old Milwaukee. He enjoyed demolition derby at the county fair before getting into stock car dirt track racing. With a huge love for cars, Roger was very proud of the ’82 Firebird that he restored. Over the years, Roger worked at General Motors Oldsmobile Plant, H & G Steel, Dagget Waste Management, was a janitor at Sebring High School, and was an Airborne Express Delivery Driver. Roger also held the secret to the best charcoal grilled foods, due to his method of how to start the charcoal grill.
Roger is survived by his children, Sabrina Halstead, Roger (Linda) McCartney Jr., Stacey Weeks, and Sarah (Mathew) Hebenstreit; step-children, Rob (Kim) Jones, Angela Jones, Melisa (Richard) Keck, Michaelle (Mike) Smalley, and Bobby (Laura) Reed; 16 grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck Farr; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Kellie McCartney; brothers, Walt Farr, Leo Farr, and Rick McCartney; step-son, Matthew DeWaters; and his parents.
Friends are encouraged to support Roger’s family. Funeral services are Monday, April 19, 4 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home Gardens in Charlotte with Pastor Lloyd Lack officiating. Marie A. Glassnor
Marie Annette Glassnor, a lady who lived her life by the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you’d have done unto you,” died peacefully at the age of 81 on April 9, 2021. Born in Buckley, Mich. on June 20, 1939 to Virgil and Pearl (Sadler) Kaufman, Marie graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High, and then in 1958 married Charles Glassnor Jr. A very family-oriented person, Marie loved sharing memories of her childhood, going camping with her mom and dad, and of her time living in and around Traverse City. She also had many fond memories of having her children and raising them, and was proud of the fact that she had the stamina to raise teenagers without having a nervous breakdown. Marie could often be heard singing her favorite songs at the karaoke bar with her group of friends, Jean, Ken, Barb, Joan, Jo and Sheila. Marie enjoyed, and was talented with drawing and painting.
“I cared, I loved, I hurt, I held on,” was a sentiment that Marie wanted to share with others about herself. She was extremely proud of her children, and adored her grandchildren and time spent with them. A compassionate person, Marie truly had a giving heart. She served on the Special Education Committee in Eaton County as it was started, she received the Minute Man Award from Eaton County, was a truly active member the of Rough Riders Mower Racing Club where she devoted her time and effort for six years. Over the years she worked in many different capacities, nurse’s aide in Barry County, housekeeping supervisor at Red Roof Inn, circulation manager for the Flashes and Grand Ledge Shopper Guide, newspaper oral history at the Sunfield Sentinel, newspaper delivery for the Lansing State Journal, and bus driver for Grand Ledge Schools for 15 years.
Marie is survived by her children, Faye (Ken) Mustunis, David (Shannon McKinney) Glassnor, Gary (Kelly) Glassnor, and Angela (Todd Jackson) Cooper; grandchildren, David Glassnor Jr., Beth Glassnor, Kristin Kennedy, Joshua Glassnor, Randy Glassnor, Andrew Mustunis, Tyler Glassnor, and Chelsea Glassnor; eight great-grandchildren; special friends, Jean Morris and Ken Parker. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Glassnor Jr.: son, Frank Glassnor; special friend, Montie Morris.

Patrick W. Caveney
Patrick Wayne Caveney, 39, of Charlotte, a big-hearted father, son, brother, and grandson, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 9, 2021. Patrick was born September 5, 1981 in Muskegon, the son of Wayne Lawrence and Deborah Sue (Jensen) Caveney. In first grade, his family moved to Charlotte, where he graduated in 2000 before earning his degree from Ferris State University. Soon after his education, he went right to work as a career IT specialist with the State of Michigan, recently earning his IT-15 distinction. Patrick was a passionate University of Michigan fan, and enjoyed listening to the oldies. He loved animals, especially his dog Choco and his two cats, Cara and Musky. Above all, he cherished his family and friends, and adored his 12-year-old daughter, Caydence.
Patrick is survived by his daughter, Caydence; parents, Wayne and Deb Caveney; sister, Emily Caveney; brother, Rick Caveney; nieces, Taylor Conley, Sophia Caveney and Sara Caveney; nephew, Benjamin Caveney; grandmother, Eva Jean Jensen; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his pets, Choco, Cara and Musky. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Irene (Campbell) Caveney and Elgie Jensen.

Lydia Harris
Mrs. Lydia Harris, age 80, of Nashville, Mich., passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Lydia was born in Woodland, Mich., on September 22, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Lydia (Peabody) Stairs. She was raised in the Woodland area and graduated with her high school diploma. Lydia continued her education by attending college.
On April 20, 1982, she married Mr. Gary Harris in Hastings, Mich. The couple made their home together in the Nashville, Mich. area. They enjoyed spending time visiting local restaurants, socializing with their many friends. They loved the company of their family and pet dogs and cats.
Lydia was a dedicated mother, spouse, sister, aunt, grandma, friend, and worker. She spent over 32 years employed at Owens International in Charlotte, Mich., before retiring in 2003 to dedicate more time to her family and friends.
Lydia’s family was always her priority. She loved spending time in the kitchen preparing her specialties that everyone craved. Whether it was goulash, beef and noodles, or taco night, having her family together, laughing and enjoying a home-cooked meal, was something she always held dear. She adored her Pomeranian dogs, who were always by her side and were her fiercest companions. She loved gardening and growing the most beautiful flowers. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, and surrounding herself with family and friends, all of which honored her unconditional love, wisdom, warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and prized desserts, specifically peanut butter sheet cake and sugar cookies.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Gary Harris; her son, Robert Thompson; her daughter, Tina Marie Moccardine; two sisters, Iris Simpson and Shirley Hicks; several grandchildren, Robert and Rebecca Thompson, Stephanie Moreno, Leslie Moreno, and Rusty and Jessica Moccardine; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie Thompson and Brenden Thompson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lydia Belle Moccardine.
Funeral services will be held at The Daniels Funeral Home, Nashville, Mich., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Robert Dale Squires
Robert Dale Squires had a personality that was larger than life, so Jesus decided it was time for him to come Home on Monday, January 25, 2021, at the age of 55.
Robert, also affectionately known as Robert Dale, Bob, Bobby, Roberto, and Robert Dale-y, was born on July 21, 1965, in Charlotte, Mich. He could make friends with anyone and happily did so in all the cities he lived in, which included Eaton Rapids, Mich.; Brevard, North Carolina; Minden, Louisiana; Dubberly, Louisiana; Cowpens, South Carolina; Crossville, Tennessee; and finally Cullman, Alabama.
He was well known for his smile and ability to bring joy to others, just as much as he was for his regular bouts of happy tears. He worked tirelessly to coax a laugh out of even the most unwilling participant, usually through corny jokes, funny sweaters, or random bursts of song and dance. He also had an uncanny ability to dress up as any number of inanimate objects, usually in support of local businesses, such as hot dogs, cell phones, shampoo bottles, and occasionally the Statue of Liberty. All of these he performed while listening to pop music on his Walkman.
Robert’s patience knew no bounds, and he always saw the best in situations. He didn’t let you forget when his birthday or Christmas was coming up, but he never complained and he was always genuinely willing to help others. In his free time, he liked to solve word search puzzles and ride his bicycle around town, constantly stressing out many of the people in his life who love and care about him. One of his favorite hobbies was calling his friends and family to chat or show them his latest find on FaceTime. He had a knack for calling at the most inopportune moments, though his poorly timed calls and long voicemail messages will be missed dearly.
He was met at Heaven’s gates by his mom, Waneta Laughter; step-dad, Fred Laughter; dad, Douglas Squires; step-mom, Doris Squires; niece, Holli Tyler; and nephew, Troy Nealey. He leaves behind his sisters, Sally (Johnny) Whaley, Annette Squires (Tony) Gee, and Maurica Brown; brothers, Rocky (Leigh) Tyler and Ralph Squires; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Eaton Rapids First Baptist Church, 9220 Kinneville Road, Eaton Rapids, Michigan. A private graveside service will follow at Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte, Michigan.
