Judith “Judi” Chloe Barkley
Judith “Judi” Chloe Barkley, age 80, of Olivet, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 10, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. Judi was born on December 15, 1939, to Earl Hainline and Blanche (Martin) Hainline-Sayat, in Battle Creek. She graduated from Lansing Everett High School.
Judi married Jack L. Barkley on April 11, 1988, in Potterville. She was a dental office manager in the Lansing area for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. Judi was a faithful, active member of City on a Hill Community Church in Olivet and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and with Hospice in the Charlotte area.
She was an outdoor-loving person — including gardening, tending to her flowers, hunting (particularly turkey hunting), fishing and traveling. She believed that she was catering for Christ through the church and would help anyone in need.
Judi had a special love for her family and especially her grandchildren. The best way to sum up Judi’s life is that, “She didn’t let grass grow under her feet.” Judi is survived by her husband Jack; her daughters, Brenda (Robert Kubiak) Jones of Kalamazoo and Shannon (John) Freeman of Leslie; her grandchildren, Ashley (Cecil) Singh, Paige Jones and Chad Jones; and her sister, Joan Sweet of New Port Richey, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gordon Hainline.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 13, 2020, at City on a Hill Community Church in Olivet with Pastor Steve Byrens officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet. Arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy. 27 N. in Marshall.
