David George Wyatt

A fisherman’s greatest treasure isn’t the fish he catches but the memories he creates along the way.

David George Wyatt was born February 17, 1934, in Lansing to George and Margaret (Symonds) Wyatt. He lived his early years in Lansing until the family moved to Eaton Rapids.

He married Nellie Sherman in Eaton Rapids on May 15, 1955 and were married 64 years until she passed away in 2019. David worked nearly 40 years at Oldsmobile. During that time, he also served his community as a member of the Eaton Rapids Fire Department and Ambulance Service.
After retirement they moved to the Mecosta area where Dave lived with a fishing pole in his hand and a frying pan of fish on the fire. They wintered in Florida where he was able to use his gift of gab with his friends.

After Nellie’s health no longer allowed her to travel, they returned to the area and he spent his free time, and there was lots of it, watching his great grandchildren’s sporting events.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, his parents, siblings Ray, Betty, Barbara, and Clara and a son-in-law, David Chamberlain. He is survived by his four daughters, the reason for his baldness, Debbie (Gary) Carlson, Kathy (Greg) Meredith, Sandy Wyatt-Chamberlain, and Kim Wyatt, eight grandchildren, who will serve as pallbearers, 22 great grandchildren, and sister Sue Mills.

The family would like to express their extreme thanks to Eaton Community Palliative Care and Hospice of Lansing for their wonderful care of David and the entire family.
