Susan Ann Hine


Susan Ann Hine, 82 of Charlotte, Michigan passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 15, 2025, with her children by her side. Susan was born on July 20, 1943, to Paul and Mary Jones in Hancock County, Indiana.

Susan was the middle child of three brothers and one sister. She grew up on her family farm in Pendleton, Indiana where she was actively involved in 4H. Susan graduated from Hancock Central High School, where she met Steve Hine. They married in June of 1962. Their marriage of 60 years was something to be adored, built on love and faith. Not only was Susan a loving wife, but also a dedicated stay-at-home mother who poured her heart into raising her children. Susan and Steve have two adored children, Cindy (Butch) Cook and Doug (Nicole) Hine. Additionally, they have four cherished grandchildren, Brock Cook, Stephanie (Rob) Petre, Dakoda (Abby) Hine, and Kaden Hine. They all fondly refer to her as “Gubbies”. Susan enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking and mostly spending time with her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her children; grandchildren; brother Jerry Jones; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jay Jones and Junior Jones; sister, Marge Beyers; brother-in-law, Joe Beyers; and her loving husband, Steve Hine. 

A visitation was held on Monday August 18, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, Michigan. An additional visitation was held at Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield, Indiana on Wednesday August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformations.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Haven and of Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their loving care of Susan over the past two years.

In Heaven’s peace they now reside, Gubbies and Papaw, side by side.
