HGB Gala Graphic OnlyVirtual reality … robotics … mobile phones … we find these technologies used in games and social activities, as well as in health care. That makes them perfect elements in the upcoming HGB Gala, held at AL!VE from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15. This creative, innovation-themed event not only helps raise money for new technologies and services at the hospital, physician practices and AL!VE, it also provides creative fun and games along the way.
Made possible in part through the generosity of Presenting Sponsor MSU Federal Credit Union, as well as many in-kind donors of items for the silent auction, this year’s Gala is shaping up to be the largest and most engaging of all.
Attendees can learn about and try virtual reality equipment, guided by local virtual reality developer and nocturnal photographer Vincent Brady. They can listen or dance to the tunes of Donny Brown and the Van Dell Tones. Or perhaps they will choose to take part in the mosaic tile art piece created by attendees during the course of the event, or to remember a loved one with the new memorial wind chime project. There also will be opportunities to see the latest from the high school robotics team – the O-Bots.
The Gala Innovation Station will showcase health care innovations, helping provide more advanced care and prevention for local families. Also featuring the partnership between HGB and Sparrow, which is connected to Mayo, innovations will show ways that health care is becoming more efficient and effective.
Innovation has come to the HGB Gala auction as well. If attendees wish to bid on silent auction items, they will be able to use their smart phones.  (Those without phones will still be able to bid too!)  Auction items range from unique home décor and travel items to personalized experiences such as flyboarding, a private spa party, a private Chef’s Table cooking class or a home brewing party.
“This year’s event will be full of fun and surprises as we play out our ‘Create’ theme,” remarked Barbara Fulton, community development director and Gala coordinator. “Our Gala committee has done great work dreaming up activities, auction items, and guest experiences that will be unique, enjoyable and memorable.”
Tickets can be purchased at www.hgbhealth.com, under the ‘Support’ tab or by calling (517) 543-1050, ext. 2190.
