On Saturday, May 6, starting at 9 a.m., the Village of Sunfield will kick off its annual May Daze event. There seems no better way to celebrate Sunfield pride than with the return of warm, sunny weather. Event organizer and Welch Museum board member Geneise Davis was key in combining a couple of different Sunfield events into an amalgam day of fun and activity.
The major happenings for May Daze include a Color Run starting at 9 a.m. Runners will start on Main Street in front of the fire department. Runners will encounter several color spots along the track through the town. Davis encourages the runners to stick around for the vendor Junk in the Trunk sale on Main Street. Dozens of businesses and vendors from Sunfield and surrounding areas will be present selling goods and items made locally. The combination of the Color Run and Junk in the Trunk sale Davis believes will be the big draw for visitors.
Additional attractions this year include a petting zoo and a raffle. Tickets for the raffle will be $1 a piece, or six for $5. Raffle items will include a new picnic table from Polly Products of Mulliken, and a seven-foot long beanbag. Each year May Daze has grown just little bit in its events and opportunities. 2017 will be another of exciting day family fun and sunshine.
With a taste of old-time carnival and a twist of new millennial fun, May Daze is sure to be a good time for young and old alike. For more information readers can call (517) 566-8741, or (517) 930-7153.
