Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital annually celebrates National Men’s Health Month with its Golf, Grilling and Guys’ Health event Father’s Day weekend at AL!VE. The free health fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 18, features family-oriented activities including golf, dodge ball and cross fit competitions; healthy living information and screenings; physician conversations; children’s activities and a summer cookout.
The celebration begins as the Eaton County United Way’s Colors United 5k, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m., finishes at the Floyd M. Jewell Memorial in front of AL!VE.
A putting contest sponsored by Kositcheck’s Menswear and chipping contest sponsored by Maple Brook Golf Course both begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m., with many opportunities to win fun prizes. There will also be door prizes provided by Costco. A dodge ball tournament begins at 11 a.m. in SOAR. Teams of six are encouraged to sign up for the “Bring Your ‘A’ Game” competition in two age divisions: Teen (ages 13 to 17) and Adult (ages 18 and up). A mini Touch-A-Truck event will feature emergency vehicles, and PLAY, the outside children’s recreation area, will be open. Lettuce Live Well will provide information, kids’ activities and popcorn. A summer cookout will include chicken brats and hot dogs, chips and water, plus ice cream provided by MOOville. Adults will have an opportunity to enjoy beer tasting by the Charlotte Brewing Company.
Just in time for Father’s Day, there will be an opportunity to shop at Playmaker’s satellite store. Playmaker’s is a premier running and fitness destination in Okemos, Mich. Staff will hold Good Form Walking sessions at 11 a.m. and noon outside on EXPLORE, AL!VE’s walking path.
