Off the strength of a solid first year for the Eaton County Home and Business Expo, organizers were able to secure enough local support to offer free admission for this year’s event. In addition, several new attractions have been added to make this year a “can’t miss” weekend in Charlotte.
The 2nd Annual Eaton County Home and Business Expo takes place Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Charlotte High School gymnasium. There, guests can peruse booths from close to 90 different vendors, including businesses that provide electrical, pest control, lawn care, construction and remodeling, in addition to medical professionals, home-based businesses, car dealerships, realtors, financial advisors and insurance companies.
“It’s really exciting that we are able to offer free admission this year,” said Amanda Lipsey, interim director of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. “We will have a lot more family-friendly activities too. This event is not just for people looking to remodel their home. It’s somewhere they can bring the kids and have a lot of fun.”
While parents check out the goods and services, their children will be entertained at the bounce house. Local restaurants will be on hand to provide samples of their fine fare. Also new this year, vendors from the Charlotte Artisans and Farmers Market will also be available.
Established through a partnership between the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and LOCALS in Business, the Home and Business Expo serves as a fine example of local collaboration.
“It’s been really good for both groups,” Lipsey said. “The LOCALS really came up with this idea and the Chamber was able to get on board to provide support. LOCALS in Business is a group that genuinely cares about one another. It’s been very inspiring working with them.”
