On October third Charlotte Rising hosted the second annual Fall Fest and Buy Nearby weekend. Buy Nearby is a state-wide event sponsored by the Michigan Retailers Association, promoting downtown retail and shopping local.
This year’s event featured scarecrow building, music, a cider stroll, craft show on the Courthouse lawn, fall family photos, used book sale at the Charlotte Community Library, and a cornhole tournament for the Charlotte Chamber. These events kept families busy all day, while featuring local retail opportunities.
After the event, local retailers were contacted regarding the impact of Fall Fest and Buy Nearby weekend. Over 75% of downtown retailers said they saw an increase in business due to the event.
Overall, it was a great weekend to be downtown and be a downtown retailer.
Organizers expressed special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this event possible as well as the local businesses who supported the weekend’s activities.
