In the last week, CharlotteRising wrapped up its 2019 Façade Grant program with the awarding of $25,000 to local downtown business to do improvements on their buildings.
The Façade Grant program helps to accomplish CharlotteRising’s mission through promoting downtown design. The Façade Grant program is also one of the core programs the Design Action Team completes every year. This team is made up of individuals who care about the look and design of downtown and want to make it more appealing for residents, businesses, and tourists.
There were many strong applications submitted this year and we are pleased to announce the 2019 recipients: Precedent Properties ($4,967.65), The Yarn Garden ($10,000), Thirsty Bird Kitchen and Bar ($1,100), Ken Wirt ($2,150), The Doolittle Building LLC ($6,125), and Shetenhelm CPA ($657.35). These facade grant projects are set to begin in June and will be wrapped up by December of this year. Many projects have a very aggressive timeline and hope to have projects done before the end of summer.
CharlotteRising is proud to be able to invest back into the community in this way and has dedicated money to ensure the program will continue next year.
