John Peck Auctions is a family owned and operated auction company that for nearly half a century has conducted thousands of successful live on site and online auction sales throughout Michigan. Now they have expanded their reach and service with their new location in Charlotte.
Originally started in Gladwin, John Peck Sr. started providing his auction services in 1979. John’s son, John Peck Jr., after serving eight years in the Navy came back to Michigan joining forces with his father, taking the company into the second generation. The new Charlotte location is still owned and operated by the father/son team and most customers simply refer to them as Senior and Junior.
The second location was by no means an accident, John Peck Auctions serves countless customers throughout the region. It is also appropriate for John Jr., who calls Charlotte home with his wife, Carley, and their four children. Carley and her parents, Scott and Penny Cooper, have deep roots in the Charlotte community. It made perfect sense for John Peck Auctions to invest in the community they call home.
At John Peck Auctions they specialize in one owner estate, firearms, sporting goods, tools, farm, and industrial auctions. The Charlotte location will serve as a hub for buyers and sellers alike. Buyers can claim certain purchased items from this location by appointment and sellers can drop off certain items to be sold. This new facility is also an office for the Pecks to coordinate on-site auctions within the area.
Throughout the course of a year John Peck Auctions has 70-80 auctions throughout the state, usually 10 of those are specialized firearm sales, making up 25% of their business. John Peck Auctions has two special Federal Firearms Licenses which allow them to safely market, sell, and transfer firearms nationally by means of auction. They are also able to operate like a gun shop serving as an educational resource providing their expert knowledge and performing special order retail sales. This new location allows them to have a greater footprint in the state and makes it much more convenient for customers, saving them time and money from making the trip up to Gladwin. Having been open only for a couple of months, John Jr. told me that the response from their customers and the community has been very positive.
