Yoga on Tap. Piyo and a Pint. Barre and Brews. Regardless of the name, or the specified workout, the uniqueness of the new Beach Market Series drew crowds to downtown Charlotte this past summer.
The brainchild of Christina Campbell, Marketing and Operations Manager at AL!VE, the Beach Market Series paired AL!VE fitness instructors and Charlotte Brewing Company craft beer to offer participants the opportunity to experience downtown Charlotte in an exciting new way.
A different class was offered on three separate Saturdays in August and September — Piyo (a combination of pilates and yoga), Yoga, and Barre. Participants could participate in the one-hour session and follow it up with a pint of Charlotte Brewing Company beer.
Campbell said the idea came as a result of looking at ways AL!VE could better connect with the downtown business community. She said she was thrilled with the number of participants (55-60) for the first three-week session, and is working with Charlotte Brewing Company, Windwalker Underground Gallery and Beach Market to continue to offer the series throughout the colder months.
“I heard so many great comments from people throughout the series,” Campbell said. “There were several participants from out of town, some of which were surprised something like this was being offered in Charlotte.”
The Beach Market Series raised $200 that will be donated to the Friends of Beach Market to help fundraising efforts for renovations of the historic location set to take place in 2019.
AL!VE is in talks with Windwalker Underground Gallery to move the fitness sessions to its second-story ballroom during colder months. Charlotte Brewing Company owner Terry Davis said he’s looking forward to continued collaborations in the future.
“It was a great way to promote several businesses downtown in a really cool way,” Davis said.
