EC Fair 10
The volunteers of the fair board are busy making the final preparations in anticipation of the Eaton County Fair July 11 through July 16. The week will feature a host of favorite events, including tractor pulls, moto-cross and mud-bogs. A few new events have also made their way onto the schedule.
On Thursday a tractor show will feature local machines and on Friday a car show will take place. Both shows will be next to the grey exhibit hall and local entries are encouraged to take part in the events.
Pre-fair events include harness racing and mini-horse pulls. The week will feature several special days including senior citizens day on Tuesday and toddlers day on Thursday. Wednesday, Eaton Farm Bureau will host the Eaton Food and Ag Fest where Farm Bureau members will receive free gate admission into the fair and be able to participate in special activities.
“We always have a lot of fun at the fair and this year will be no different,” said board member Doug Brownell.
Before the grandstand and midway events get underway, 4-H clubs and their campers will be busy making their way to the grounds where they will spend a week showing animals and participating in a host of other activities. From cake decorating, photography, shooting sports and many others, 4-H students will spend Saturday morning being judged for their work in a variety of classes. Their creations will be on display all week in the grey exhibit building at the front of the grounds. According to the MSU Extension Office, more than 650 youth and 200 volunteers make up the Eaton County branch of the 4-H program.
The adult or open classes will display their creations in Kardel Hall.
