Capital Area Community Service’s 29th annual Walk For Warmth events are coming up soon, with Eaton County’s walk occurring on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the First Congregational Church in Charlotte. Registration for the walk begins at 10:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 11 a.m. Walk for Warmth is a three-mile walk to help raise funds for home heating assistance, with all money raised going back into the community it was raised in, to help households who are at risk of having their heat shut off. Friends, families, companies, and other organizations are encouraged to join in the walk or donate.

CACS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and has been helping the Eaton, Ingham, Clinton, and Shiawassee County areas with heating, housing, and more since 1964. Their main goals are to develop relationships with the community and bring assistance to low-income households. According to the CACS website, $52,516 was raised in 2015 through the walks, and $841,613 has been raised since the fundraiser started in 1991.

Two weeks before the walk on Saturday, February 16 at 4p.m, there will be a Chili Cook-off at the Charlotte Eagle’s Lodge across from McDonalds. From 5 to 7 p.m. there will be chili, baked products, and other foods available.  For more information or to donate, cacs-inc.org/walk-for-warmth or call (517) 543-5465.
