Citizens can get involved with beautifying their hometown river by participating in the Eaton Conservation District’s 17th Annual River Conservation Day at Bennett Park in Charlotte.
“In 2019 we had over 45 volunteers attend, and we were able to collect several hundred pounds of trash,” stated executive Director Sue Spagnuolo.
This event is sponsored by the Eaton Conservation District, The Charlotte Wellhead Protection Team, the City of Charlotte and Michigan United Conservation Clubs ‘On The Water’ Program.
This year’s event is scheduled for October 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will be provided with lunch, sponsored by Michigan United Conservation Club’s ‘On the Water’ program. Volunteer registration is required by September 30th. Gloves and supplies will also be provided.
The Eaton Conservation District provides numerous opportunities for involvement, including river cleanup, invasive species monitoring, learning about stormwater pollution, education on tree health and monitoring, and more. Additional information can be found on the website at eatoncd.org.
Due to Covid-19, all volunteers will be properly social distanced at six feet apart during this year’s Annual River Conservation Day.
