The Eaton Rapids boys varsity basketball team travelled to Ionia on Friday, Feb. 28, for a CAAC White division league game and came away with a big 50-46 win. This final league game put them at 15-3 on the season and in third place overall in the division.
The Greyhounds are no stranger to playing on the road — 11-1 on the season — with no pressure to win against the home Bulldogs. Ionia was trying for a solo league title with a win. But the Greyhounds played team defense throughout the game, which enabled them to keep the game close. The Greyhounds had two seniors lead the way in the scoring with 16 points each — Griffin Gleason and Bronson Sysum.
The win against Ionia will go a long way in helping build momentum for the upcoming MHSAA tournament, which begins on March 11.
Overall, the team has had an outstanding season and looks to close the regular season out this week with games at home. On Tuesday, March 3, they will host Owosso at 7 p.m.
