Tanisha Kingsbury had one goal, to be able to eat ketchup. That goal led her on a path of exploration and a career in the natural health field.
Kingsbury suffered from more than 20 food allergies, making grocery shopping a chore and daily life quite complicated. After trying a variety of medical routes, Kingsbury said nothing was working. Nothing that is, until she explored alternative and holistic health options.
Now, she is able to consume the condiment and a variety of other foods and no longer has any of those food allergies that plagued her. In addition, Kingsbury was able to find her passion.
“I found out that health is my greatest passion,” explained Kingsbury. “What I love about it is that health can impact a community.”
Kingsbury recently opened Health Simplified LLC in downtown Olivet in order to help others reach their health goals. A student of Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education in Mt. Pleasant, Kingsbury works with clients to develop customized goals to promote whole body health. During personal consultations, Kingsbury is able to explore natural, holistic based options to develop a plan.
Being classified as New Age is just one of the misconceptions Kingsbury works to address. She explained that the use of herbs and oils goes back thousands of years. Another misconception deals with a client’s ability to make the right choice each and every time.
“The greatest misconception is that you have to be perfect and I think what’s really refreshing is that I meet people where they are at,” explained Kingsbury. “It’s about making realistic, maintainable changes and what’s best for them.”
The business offers a selection of essential oils, herbs, gifts and other products, all with one goal in mind – to create healthy lives.
“We all want to spend more time with the kids or grandkids, travel or other life experiences, but if you don’t have health, you don’t really get to enjoy those experiences,” said Kingsbury.
Much more than a quick fix, Kingsbury said the natural health approach can eliminate issues rather than prescribing medication, which might carry their own side effects and complications.
“It’s addressing the root issue, it’s not a band-aid,” said Kingsbury. “It’s about addressing the cause and I think that’s really refreshing.”
