Taylor Dreps has been somewhat of a fitness fanatic most of her life. However, it wasn’t until a friend dragged her to a Zumba class that she realized she wanted to share her passion for exercise with others.

An instructor for the past three years at various facilities, Dreps opened Taylor’d Fitness and Nutrition in the Charlotte Plaza in November and has spent the past month helping people find their own passion for fitness. Taylor’d Fitness offers a variety of fitness classes for all ages (as young as 4 years old through senior citizens) six nights a week.

Cardio Dance class blends hip hop with cardiovascular moves to blast away calories. Gut Be Gone melts away fat while strengthening core muscles. Tabata features an interval training cycle that yields maximum results in a short period of time. Total Body Toning does just that, works on the entire body and is good for people of all fitness levels. Turbo Kick features cardio kickboxing and body-sculpting dance moves. Z-Box blends hot dance moves with exciting boxing moves, followed by a moment of relaxation. Zumba features exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin music.

“A lot of people come in because it’s fun and they make friends,” Dreps said.

In addition to the classes, Dreps offers guidance when it comes to nutrition as well, specializing in Herbalife products. People can receive a full health assessment, including weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, metabolic age, body mass index and visceral fat percentage. All of those numbers give a baseline from which to start, Dreps said.

“We do a lot of one-on-one,” she said. “Everyone has their own goals. The wellness evaluation shows them where they are at in terms of where they want to be. According to their numbers, we can show them what is realistic in their world.”

Dreps said ideally she would like to see people taking three to four classes a week, though everyone is different.

“If you give me three or four days a week, we can make something happen for sure,” Dreps said.

Classes are offered on a drop-in basis so there are no memberships or contracts to adhere to. Dreps said there are punch card and monthly-unlimited class programs set up designed to save people money. There is also free daycare on site.
