Friday, June 11 promises to be the start of a fun summer in downtown Olivet with the launch of the Olivet Cruise-In. Cars of all makes, models, and years are expected to line Main Street in downtown Olivet starting about 5 p.m. The public is invited to come and check them out, enjoy some live music, see your friends and neighbors, shop the pop-up vendors and local businesses, and maybe even grab a bite to eat. It will all be part of this exciting monthly event and is sponsored by the Olivet Community Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber is also excited to have the band 3 Track Mind, formerly known as Full Circle, performing that evening. 3 Track Mind is from Charlotte and performs acoustic rock from the 70s through the 90s. They will be playing from 6 until 8 p.m. near the Eaton Community Bank. Organizers suggest you bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on to enjoy the music. Dancing shoes are optional!
Vendors will be set up along Main Street, also. They will feature retail items, crafts, and baked goods. In addition, there will be a food vendor with corn dogs, cheese on a stick, and much more. Several of the retail businesses have agreed to stay open for the event, including Health Simplified, Seasonal Inspirations, and Dandi Lions Floral Design & Gifts.
To add even more excitement to the fun-filled evening downtown, there will be a drawing. Just by entering your name, with no purchase required, you could win items or gift cards donated by local merchants during the Cruise In.
If you are a vendor and are interested in participating in the Cruise-In, contact Angie Wietzke at 517-204-6563 or by email at awietzke@eaton.bank or by visiting their Facebook page at olivetchamber. There is no charge to participate but donations are accepted.
There will be another Cruise In on July 9 and again on August 13. If the weather is inclement the event will be canceled. The Chamber also would like to remind people about the Olivet Fireman’s Festival which is coming up at the end of July.
