Whether running from one or running like one, the screaming banshee is serving as inspiration for runners to come together at Lake Alliance in Potterville on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Screaming Banshee 5K/10K/Half/Kids Miler is the newest creation of the Pville Pacers running club in Potterville.
The group hopes to draw more than 400 runners from throughout Mid-Michigan to join in a little Halloween-inspired fun. In order to appeal to the masses, the Screaming Banshee is set up to provide something for everyone from the seasoned runner to the beginner … even the family dog.
Kicking off at 9:30 a.m. with the kids mile run (costume race), the event also features a dog-friendly 5K, 10K and half-marathon course. Organizers expect this to be a fun-filled event with participants running in their best Halloween-inspired garb. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Kids signed up for the mile run will receive a Halloween grab bag and will be able to participate in Halloween crafts and pumpkin decorating throughout the day. Eagle Monk Pub and Brewery returns to Potterville, offering craft beer tasting and craft rootbeer tasting for those guests younger than 21.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Capital Area Humane Society and the Potterville Parks and Recreation Department.
