Rapid’s Auto Service located in Eaton Rapids has successfully been in business since 1975. Current owner, Jake Schnepp’s grandfather, Dick Tottingham, opened Rapid’s Auto Service when he was working at a gas station and desired another outlet to pursue his lifelong passion for cars, which is all he has ever done and known. With his grandfather and family working at the auto shop, Schnepp has spent his lifetime in Eaton Rapids.

In 2009, Schnepp shared the goal to continue the family business that has been up and running for 48 years and officially began working at Rapid’s Auto Service. Prior to working at his family’s auto shop Schnepp did not have formal education or training in auto mechanics, but since then he has gained all of his knowledge from hands on experience working at the family business for the last 14 years. Schnepp became the owner of Rapid’s Auto Service two and a half years ago. He said he has greatly appreciated helping the community with automotive repairs ever since.

I asked Schnepp why someone should choose Rapid’s Auto Service over other automotive repair shops. He said, “It is all family here. To quote what my grandfather always says, ‘It is Main Street, not Wall Street.’” Keeping a main street focus was his grandfather’s inspiration when he first opened the shop, and maintaining the small-town feel has helped Rapid’s Auto Service to become a well-established family business.

Rapid’s Auto Service can fully service a car, meaning they are capable of fixing anything that you need done to your vehicle, from hood to trunk. The most common service needs they have seen lately are brakes and suspension repairs. Currently working at the shop alongside Jake are four full-time employees, who are able and willing to help provide you with the best service around.
