Step N’ Time Dance Studio is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year as they continue to provide the same great dance instruction and teamwork as they did when they first opened.
Kimberly Rodriguez started Step N’ Time Dance Studio at the age of 21, having been in the dance scene for all her life. Even during her childhood Rodriguez was fortunate enough to have started choreographing dance when she was only a freshman in high school for the Revue, Nashville’s local theater.
Opening her own studio was always a dream for Rodriguez, with dance as a creative outlet for her. “I am so thankful for my start,” shared Rodriguez, “and that it still encourages me 20 years later to invest in our youth, being able to provide them with the same outlet.”
As a dance studio, Step N’ Time and its dancers have performed at a variety of events and shows throughout the course of the past two decades. A few of the studio’s accomplishments have been at the Wharton Center with the Capital City Chordsmen, nursing homes, parades across the local area, Relay for Life fundraisers, and their big annual recital at the end of each dance season. With performing at all of these local events, Step N’ Time’s biggest and greatest honor to date was being able to perform at the most magical place on earth, Disney World, in 2016.
Reflecting on the legacy that Step N’ Time dance Studio has made for themselves, Rodriguez said, “Luckily, we have made it to 20 years, which I am so thankful for. There have been some hard times, but when I see previous students, I am reminded of the impact of what we make here at Step N’ Time and that inspires me to continue our business and to provide a safe dance space for students to learn and grow through their dance journey.”
At Step N’ Time Dance Studio you can find a variety of dance styles including tap, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, pointe, acro, and even modern. All of these dance styles will be showcased at their annual end of year recital on June 14 and 15 at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center.
